Sound Really Does Have Power
Dr. Gaynor's book is easy to read and full of really useful information. There are also many exercises that you can try on yourself and others. I use them in a school for 5-9 year olds. The children find them fun and engaging. The knowledge and information he has shared in his book has served as a guide for my Sound Therapy practice, Simply-Sound.com, in London and Portugal. I am re-reading it all for the third time. Highly Recommended

Inspirational read
I have only recently finished reading this book, and found it truly wonderful. The author is a top US oncologist who uses sound and especially singing crystal bowls and other natural methods, to help his patients during there cancer treatment. He offers some extraordinary stories resulting from this approach. It is also a practical book, with some useful exercises for the interested reader to pursue. He is a very clear, warm and honest writer and I loved the combination of a highly trained and experienced medical professional expanding on the value of non-chemical or surgical approaches.

Too Vague
As an avid non-fiction reader I'm a bit picky on how the information is portrayed; here it is chaotic and not well structured. It's not a book written by a brilliant author, there is no style or humour or poetry involved. As a music workshop leader and music lover I find it to be uninformative, giving me very little information or useful technique. As someone with an interest in the human experience and science my opinion is there are too many case studies with not enough detail to be truly interesting. Everything is rather vague. It is however a little bit eye opening to the possibilities of music used in conjunction with medical care. Hasn't really been worth my money, time or space on bookshelf but it's been an alright read I guess. Never inspired to pick it up though.

Good book , recommeded purchase.
The book is mainly about the author's ( who happens to be a mainstream doctor ) interest and use of Singing Bowls , meditation and visualization to help many of his patients suffering from serious illness issues. The Bija Mantras , Toning , Shamanic Drumming , Entrainment , Altered states of consciousness , Singing and all matters connected with sound healing are looked at . A number of exercises are provided such as Breathing Exercises, Toning , Imagery Meditating with a Mantra and I like the way the author provides these exercises in Boxed views making them stand out if flicking through the book. The most effective sound syllables are listed as '' om '' , '' ah '' and '' hum '' and the importance of staying positive is discussed also and lots lots more topics . A good positive book overall .

This doctor gets it
This book is a gem. If more doctors of western medicine embraced the need for holistic healing and compassion alongside allopathic approaches, it would transformational. And this was exactly why I decided not to pursue medicine when I was younger: because I wanted to help people HEAL.

Super Buch

Must have for all sound healers
Great book for all diving deeper into sound healing, for clinicians and doctors, psychotherapists, shows great power of sound healing implemented into hospital setting. Dr Gaynor is very skillful in delivering the message how the singing bowls are integrated into his cancer pre- and post- treatments and healing effect it has on patients, connecting deeper to their source. Lots of valuable scientific insight linked to sound therapy. Must have for all sound healers, psychotherapists and those in hospitals working with treating cancer, as well as for relatives of those with disease.

Singers and therapists, get this book!
As an opera singer, energy and massage therapist, this book has given me evidence that what I did intuitively has scientific proof to it. It has given me confidence and more ideas on how to use sound in my practice and also words to explain what happens when I use sound in my sessions. Thank you. A reference book to any person interested in sounds and healing. Genevieve Couillard Després, Montreal, Canada
