Perfect for the price
I bought this to replace a hand crank that only worked 1 time. This is a dream to use, cakes come out in about 7-9 minutes. I would buy again, if even for a gift.

Muscle saver but not quite as good as advertised
This yarn winder is a shoulder saver. I prefer to cake my skeins of yard prior to using them. With a manual winder, your arm starts getting sore after about 1/2 of a medium sized skein. This eliminates the shoulder pain!On the advertisement video, the lady has 2 electric yarn winders that are caking yard as she sits back and just watching. I was unable to do this. I needed to help guide the yarn into my 1 yarn winder, constantly guiding yarn in so it would not knot up. You cannot leave this to cake yarn on its own or you will have a big knot. The torque is quite low, so if there is too much tension, the yarn winder will stop on its own.If you are caking yarn from the middle of the skein, as long as you can pull the yarn fast enough to keep up with the speed of the winder, you can go full speed. If you are pulling from the outside of the skein, you will have to go less than 1/2 speed (on a 1 pound skein) and it will tire out your arms because it does take a while to get it caked. Also, for a 1 pound skein, you will have 3 cakes of yarn. The spool can only hold about 1/3 of a Caron 1 pound skein of yarn. There are two things I do not like about this winder. First, the price of the same product has a huge range. The second thing is that the yarn cakes are not tightly caked. The cakes have a lot more open space than winding by hand. Because of this, I will not be using this for all of my cakes. Rather, for my larger skeins, I will probably be doing a manual crank yarn winder.

Not Suitable For a Swift! Really?
I received this email from Caydo after I complained that they would not show this being used with a swift. Number 6 is the deal-breaker for me!! I would not have purchased!“Dear valued customer,This is Caydo Customer Care, thank you for choosing Caydo to be a part of your life. We have the following suggestions for you to use our yarn winder properly.1. Please use the yarn winder on a stable table to reduce the noise caused by table vibrations. The machine is electric but not fully automatic, so it may require hand feeding when in use.2. If the yarn holder is not properly secured, it may fly out during operation. Therefore, please make sure that the yarn holder is firmly in place before turning on the machine.3. We suggest you straighten the yarn to prevent tangling before winding. If the yarn gets stuck or tangled, the device will stop to protect both the machine and the yarn. You can untie the yarn, then turn the knob off and on again.4. It is difficult for the machine to wind (super) bulky or too thin yarns. Bulky yarns may cause the machine to get stuck and unable to wind, or cause the machine to emit a harsh sound. Please choose the suitable yarns. We recommend Blanket Yarn(≤ 7mm), Chenille Yarn, Cotton Yarn (50%-100%), Carpet yarn, Ice bar yarn, Cream Yarn.5. This yarn winder is powered by a USB-C cable that comes with it. Any other Type-C charging cable can also power the machine.6. The yarn winder is not suitable for use with Swift.”

Absolutely LOVE this winder
I don't think it's perfect by any means, but this yarn winder is such a game-changer, even just by its size. The first yarn winder I got was about half the capacity, manual crank, and I constantly got my yarn jammed up in the mechanism. This new one is electric so I save a lot of arm fatigue, and because it's so big, I don't get jammed up nearly as bad. I've seen a lot of complaints about it stopping a lot, and it does stop if it gets stuck, so being mindful of tangled yarn is helpful. However, I was able to do a large skein of yarn pretty quickly with minimal tangles and snags. If it does stop because of a jam, just clear it, turn it off then back on, and you're in business. The only thing I would like is a way to manually wind if I somehow didn't have power. Otherwise, this should be easy to use with a portable power device as well.

Time saver, I had no idea what I was missing
Assembly and set up was easy, there’s a link to the video (which I didn’t use because the instructions in the manual are clear enough.) Comes with a tiny screwdriver and screws to attach the tensioning device, as well as a USB power cord and the instruction manual. The manual says “”The device is not suitable for highly elastic or smooth yarns, such as some acrylic yarns and polyester ropes.” Having not read the manual that far before testing the winder on some wool/acrylic sock yarn I found using both tension springs wound the yarn too tightly, on the second go I skipped threading the yarn through the first hole and tension disk and I ended up with a gorgeous center pull ball. After reading the instructions I wound some worsted weight cotton yarn using the correct threading and some of the same yarn using only the top (second) tension disk: both came out very nice, but the correct threading renders a firmer more stable ball and my way is much looser. I don’t have any polyester ropes to test, but I reckon the slots in the tensioning disks would not accommodate anything super bulky. The best part is that since I’m not winding with a crank I can use both hands to address knots or tangles and even step away to fill my coffee. I’m beyond impressed. I thought since I already had manual winders I was good to go, I was wrong, this thing is essential for yarn lovers.

Stoppt dauernd. Garnknäuel ungleichmäßig gewickelt. In Summe: Gerät nicht zu gebrauchen

Electric wool winder
I was excited to receive this wool winder as I thought it would save me a lot of hard work. However, I was very disappointed after trying to wind my first ball of wool. The winder was quite fast at first but the more yarn that is wound onto the cone, the slower the winder gets. You cannot, as suggested by the lady advertising it, have two going at once as you can’t leave the winder to “get on with it”. On my second ball of yarn the winder was so slow that it eventually stopped and I had to turn the knob to stop and then start it again. I know it saves the shoulder action that’s involved with a manual winder but it’s certainly not quicker. It takes me half the time with the manual winder, so that’s what I’ve gone back to. If I could give this a zero star rating that’s what it would get.
