Elite Gait Belt with Handles for Transfer and Mobility Assistance

Use this to keep a loved one upright in her wheelchair (wrap around her chest) so she can be fed. Previous gait belts were basically large webbed products that were causing sores. With this softer one with more cushioning on the body the sores have disappeared. In addition the adjustment strap (hard plastic male/female buckles on end of the web straps) actually hold (versus other designs which tend to slip).

Nice product just a bit cumbersome.

Excellent belt. The thick foam makes it very comfortable for my mom when moving her.

Design flaws include that the straps slip loose as they do not have teeth grips, so you can drop your patient if there is a slight left or right pull weight-wise. There must be a way to secure the tightening adjustment. The cushion should be bigger and at least 1-2 loops longer as if it is too small, which it is, your knuckles can bruise the patients underarm area near armpit if the belt slips upward on the patient. Some nonambulatory patients who cannot stand up eadily for transfers can benefit from on-location transfers at the doctor's office with it, if the design was more secure and cinchable in a non-slippable manner strap-wise.

Have tried different transfer belts. I had high hopes for this one because it has features that other belts lack. BUT the problem with this belt is that it is too slippery. It slips up to the patient's armpits, even though tightly fastened. I think the velvety backing does not grip clothing like a webbed belt does. Nice idea about the velvet, but just not functional. Better to have a textured backing that provides friction to grip clothing.

The belt clip is a little hard to undo - I think for this application maybe velcro would work better.

Soft, handle grips are good, adjusts on both sides of clips which is good.
