Soak Your Nuts: Cleansing With Karyn: Detox Secrets for Inner Healing and Outer Beauty

Good for beginners
This book is more for someone who is new to the raw foods scene. Calabrese lays out a 14 cleansing plan to get you going. One thing I noted is that the plan includes a lot of supplements. All kinds of powders and herbal pills to assist in cleansing. And that can be expensive, not to mention, financing enough raw organic produce to get you through servers meals for 14 days. Even on fasting days, she suggest you consume some sort of supplement. There are a few recipes included... very few.

Nice Book for Detox
This is a nice book if you are into fasting and detoxing and you want an alternative plan. I didn't follow everything she suggests (nor does she expect you to) but I enjoyed trying out her obtions for detoxing like enzyme pills, flax oil and I actually made rejuvelac! It's a nice resource to have in your detox library. Take what works for you and what you can afford because no matter what, you will see results. Also, watch her videos on You Tube to give you additional inspiration. And if you have a chance when you are in Chicago visit one of her raw or cooked restaurants. Karen's Cooked is always on my to do list when I'm in the Windy City.

An easy to read
An easy to read, easy to understand and clarifying message about eating raw foods and preparing your digestive system to provide you with better health. The only drawback to me was her pushing her own products and using so many unusual (and can be expensive) ingredients. To truly follow the 30 day cleanse would be costly to the average consumer. Probably an excellent experience and, if you have health issues, most likely a good idea and investment in yourself. I took away a lot of new knowledge and information from this book. I am intrigued by her story and her mission.

Good book to read, cleanse is way too expensive
Lots of great information but the 28-day cleanse was WAY too elaborate and very, very expensive. I calculated how much money my wife and I would need to spend (for 28 days each) and it was $750 EACH! The book does contain some good material and we learned a lot. Karyn truly is an inspiration.

Add this to your library
Packed with relevant information. I recommend this to friends all the time. The author really knows her stuff; she really opened my eyes to cleansing and maintaining a vegan diet. The health advice and the recipes are great. I did a 2 week cleanse following her advice and felt 200% better. It may sound silly, and yet it's one of those books that will change your life. You have to act on the information, you can't just let it sit on your shelf. It's a must for vegans and health foodies!

Honest, Detailed and Informative!
I love this book because Karyn is completely open about what works for her. So many raw food vegan authors don't include important information about supplements that they take. This bothers me because they aren't being fully honest about an essential part of their daily routine. In "Soak Your Nuts", Karyn encourages a 100% raw vegan diet, which she has been on for over 30 years. Yet she also encourages taking daily supplementation of vitamin B12, vitamin D, flax seed oil, probiotics and digestive enzymes.

Great resource
I would have given it a "5", but took off the point for being slightly scattered, as others have pointed out. But her conscientiousness, dedication and personal honesty are excellent. I've leaned alot and feel I have better resources to be successful.

Detoxing book
Interesting, informative, chatty style. I am now making the rejuvelac (though I am still experimenting with the recipe) and it is the best thing I learned about.

Some weird stuff / some really solid advice you already know
Karen Calabrese is a beautiful woman who glows inside and out but make no mistake she was born with fantastic genes and that is why she looks so great. Good for her for trying to lead people and inspire them but unfortunately even if you follow her advice to a T nothing even close to looking like her will happen. Some of her advice is downright incorrect and I'm genuinely concerned that some people might take some of the more bizzarre cleansing stuff seriously. For the record though I do soak my nuts... if you're just looking to be inspired then yeah this is a great book it'll make you want to eat cleaner for sure and will definitely make you appreciate your current lifestyle a little bit more; for its relative painlessness compared to what's proposed in this book.
