if only
what an album!!!! sadly it had to come to an early end, but what a way to go. If only young bands to day had this songwriting ability and guitar playing that is a match of any. Not many bands get me playing air guitar but the solo's are at the highest quality. I got this album at an early age and a few numbers stuck out but after nearly twenty years you have to take the whole album as one!!!

I loved old Surgery while they were on AmRep and followed ...
Basically stole this from an Amazon vendor for the price. I loved old Surgery while they were on AmRep and followed them, when this (their major label debut) came out and my buddy bought the tape, I was floored in anger with how different they sounded and it annoyed me to no end when were were cruising and this tape was put in. 20 years later and I absolutely love it, their change from AmRep to a major was really quite miniscule in sound. Great quality songs of the annoying AmRep buttrock stylee. Recommended, same for Nationwide and Trim, 9th Ward High Roller.

Great, overlooked album.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time - never gets old, and pretty much everysong is great. It has a dirty "scuzz rock" sound, but each song sounds different. There is some great slide guitar work going on, and the vocalist is awesome. The drum and vocal title track is mesmerizing, and the album as a whole has a really cool vibe to it. It is weird that this album went nowhere - it is their major label debut for Atlantic, and had a more accesible sound than their previous albums, which are much darker and a bit slower. I think the major downfall of the band was the name - if you didn't know anything about them, you'd think they were a death metal or gore metal band, when in reality they had more in common with the Jesus Lizard and old Guns N Roses.

Nice to know that someone else knows about this totally underrated and short-lived band....
I've owned this disc for I don't know how long and it is in steady rotation. This band had so much potential; this album is solid from start to finish (personal favorite is track 10). It's a damned shame there's not much back-catalog on this band, and what does exist is very scarce. Lead singer Sean McDonnell's sudden death caused the band to break up (a la Led Zeppelin) as they were unable to continue without him. Anyway, if anyone is interested in this band, I'll burn you a copy and send it to you, no charge.

shimmer shines!
this album is GREAT!!!! i remember when i received a promo copy of the cd in the mail when i had my record store. i knew sean, the singer, (r.i.p.) because he was my sales rep. at CIRCUIT RECORDS - an import wholesaler on long island. he had previously mentioned that he was in this band, but i really didn't pay much mind until i heard this disc. it is a blistering excursion into hard rock, metal, and punk. to this day, i reach for it and listen from beginning to end. this album is perfect for listening in the car. if you have not heard it, make it a point of doing so. one can probably find a copy cheap. it is criminal that this album went virtually nowhere - unnoticed and ignored. for fans of fu manchu, kyuss, and the blue oyster cult.$
