I liked this book better than "the Verse by the Side of the Road"
And if you lived thru that ear, you will be pleasantly surprise by this book. There are llittle tidbits of info, mostly humorous, to lighten up your life. The beginning, the excellent years and the sad end. But while it was riding high, it was one of the most talked about methods of advertising. According to the bank where they applied for the loan to grow, it was a product no one wanted, advertised by a method that wouldn't work, in a time when no one had any money. And yet during the hayday, they sold millions of jars of Burma-Shave. Putting it bluntly, you'll love the book. It includes over 600 of the best Burma-shave jingles--including, probably YOUR favorite. Bet YOU remember some of them.I rated this book higher because it seemed more complete AND while it gave the same history (After all how many ways can you tell the same story?) it made it more interesting.

Nice Historical Review of a Special Time
Learned so much history about the Burma Shave period which I remember very well! I am a writer and will be using information from this (fully documented of course). It's also fun to recall the many "copies" of the Burma Shave signs that developed because of them.....i.e., South of the Border, Wall Drug Store _____ miles, etc.

Good history of the Burma Shave Signs
I make and display signs along the side of my farm. This is a good, and concise listing along with lots of photos that you cannot find on the internet. I believe the collection on the internet is larger than in this book. The book organizes by topic/subject, and the internet by year, so this is a little more convenient.

My mom wrote some of them
I liked them all, I had hoped that there would have been included the names of authors of each verse. just because I was told by family members that my mom wrote some of those jingles and I would have liked to know which ones. she was a published poet and won many Kudos for her work in assorted Who's Who books etc. She was born in 1912 and she published a lot of poetry in the 1930's and 40's .She died in 1978.

Fun to read
Fun to read..I moved from Indiana as a boy of 10 years in 1959. I remember the Burma Shave signs along the way and how my two older brothers and i look forward to the next rhymes. They were humorous then and maybe even more so now that i'm nearing 70 years old!.Well worth the price!
