A master at work.
This is a really substantial book which feels solid and robust in your hands as you view the exquisite artwork contained inside. The way Otomo captures a moment that can happen in a fraction of a second like the recoil of a gun and how it affects the whole body or an explosion tearing through a building is nothing short of spectacular. You can spend good quality time scanning each page picking out little bits of detail wondering how he does it.Some sort of photographic memory for sure, microscopic attention to detail, endless patience or just a love of storytelling. My copy did not have the translation booklet which is a little disappointingAs I’m sure the txt would have given a little more context to the work and some information on the processes and thinking behind the images. This is still a five star purchase for me, yes,it is expensive but im going to be returning to this for many years to come so we’ll worth it.

Beautiful Book, Great Quality of Service
Excellent service by Amazon, the book arrived fast and in perfect condition, and just as described (Used Almost Like New). The offer was the best available and most attractive at that moment. The book itself if beautiful, a perfect and magnificant collection of Otomo Katsuhiro's work. It was a gift to an absolute fan who's been on the lookout for this book for a while now.All in all a perfect shopping experience and five stars to the Authoer, the Publisher and the Amazon team.

Best option to have most of the best works of this master
There are other great books with so many reproductions of the creator of Akira, such as Kaba or Kaba II, but this is the cheapest one and the bigger one too! This format is amazing and shows very detailed images, even with corrections, just like they were scanned and not cleaned with the computer, so it shows his work approach. A very recomended book for fans of Otomo!

Treasure trove of Otomo's art
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. This is the companion artbook to the GENGA exhibition that was held in April & May 2012. The exhibition featured over 3000 pages of manga from Otomo Katsuhiro's 39 years of career since 1973.This is a large 256-page paperback measuring 10 by 14 inches. That's larger that all the other Otomo Katsuhiro artbooks I've seen. While there are some new and unpublished artwork, some have also appeared in other books such as KABA, KABA2, Akira Club, The Memory of Memories, ビバ・イル・チクリッシモ! (VIVA IL CICLISSIMO!) and possibly others. Those artbooks are quite expensive to ship from Japan. The manga art are printed satisfyingly huge. The scans and reproduction are great. You can see how words are pasted onto the speech bubbles, the details of the ink work and hatching lines and painted illustrations. The format is large enough to show off all the meticulous work put into drawing those panels. There are a few interviews in Japanese but the book also comes with a small booklet with the English translations. If you have other artbooks, I think this is still a great addition.(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)
