Product Description The final two episodes of the popular British sitcom. In 'The Handsome Stranger', Gerry (Dawn French) is fed up with all the 'townies' buying weekend cottages in Dibley. Then she meets one particularly charming newcomer. Could he be the one? Or is it Gerry's destiny to end up heartbroken in another six-foot deep puddle? In 'The Vicar in White', it seems that Gerry's big day has finally arrived. Appearances can be deceptive, however, especially when the eccentric residents of Dibley are doing the wedding planning. .co.uk Review Bringing to an end one of the most successful British sit-coms of the last decade, Vicar Of Dibley: Holy Wholly Happy Ending is a fitting conclusion to one of the most enjoyable programmes of recent times. There are two feature episodes here, which feature the now-traditional Vicar Of Dibley cast of characters. Dawn French, of course, takes the lead role as Geraldine Grainger, but in the traditional of all good sit-coms, shes joined by a terrific supporting cast. Highlights include Gary Waldhorn as David Horton, Emma Chambers as Alice and Roger Lloyd Packs Owen. The laughs are then spread fairly evenly, and very frequently, between the whole ensemble. The focus of these final episodes, however, is Geraldines romance with Harry (Richard Armitage), and while the script (co-written by Richard Curtis) treads a comfortable and predictable path through this particular storyline, thats besides the point. Its the warmth and charm of the characters of The Vicar Of Dibley that win through here, and ultimately deliver an appropriate send-off for the series. So while its a pity that The Vicar Of Dibley has finally drawn to an end, Holy Wholly Happy Ending proves to be a great way to go for a show thatll be fondly remembered and frequently rewatched for many years to come. Amen to that. --Simon Brew

Such a wonderful, hilarious ending!
I'll keep this short and sweet, but if you've followed and loved The Vicar Of Dibley over the years, then you owe it to yourself to see how the story comes to an end. The last two episodes of the show are up there with its best and contain what is easily some of the biggest laughs the show has ever seen (the 'It Should Have Been Me!" sequence will forever be one of my favourites!). It's such a joyful and romantic conclusion to the show, and it cements itself as one of the best comedies the BBC have ever put out. This DVD also comes with a behind the scenes feature that follows the cast and crew as they filmed the show over the years, and it's just as entertaining to see the off-screen laughs and sense of friendship and family among everyone, as it is watching the show.

The Vicar of Dibley - Holy Wholly Happy Ending
Idly googling Richard Armitage (having just discovered North and South) I found clips of this on Youtube, and it made me laugh so much I bought the dvd. I was not dissapointed. Dribbling over Harry aside, I have now stumbled on this excellent and truly amusing comedy and have since watched earlier material. Amusing characters that defy belief and interesting theme; female clergy. My boys think the dream/song sequence is the funniest thing ever, (although sadly are not able to watch the series due to it's mainly 12 content). I love happy endings, and this is what Geraldine ultimately deserved. Dawn French - you are a national treasure.

Dawn at her early best
The earlier episodes were the best. The scripts, whilst funny and gently teasing the rural C of E coping with a woman vicar, who is lively and interesting and more intelligent than the yokels and the trenchant Conservatism. The sprout eating contest and the Easter Egg hunt are the highlights of these two episodes. The later episodes with affairs, speed dating and other things are less believable in a genuine vicar.

Crazy and romantic
I was new to the Vicar od Dibley, and found these two episodes extremely funny. The romantic turn doesn't make them less so.. Uplifting. Richard Armitage is absolutely charming in a less gruff way than usual. Oh, and the extras offer an interesting take on an important theme such as the ordaining of women by the Church of England.
