Lots of images that can start conversations with little ones about emotions and expression
I ordered these to use with my 3-year-old grandson and also as a scouting mission to see if I could use it with children I see as clients. The cards consist of a multitude of emotional expressions from a diverse base of kids all in the range of early elementary school-age. The cards are pliable, about like playing cards, but are larger than a standard card deck. The deck comes with a small handheld wooden mirror so children can see themselves and also note the expression on the card. I don't agree with the labeling of every emotion, but that could be addressed when using these cards. And I can imagine a lot of uses because of the expressions - children tend to like looking at faces and especially the faces of other children.

SEL(Social Emotional Learning) Cards
I am a Kindergarten Prep teacher and we talk a lot about feelings. During circle time, we do SEL(social emotional learning). This is an essential learning tool for me to teach about emotions. There are 40 facial expressions(it says 41 but there were 2 identical ones) with the adjectives printed and the definition on the back. I like that the cards are pictures of children from diverse ethnicities. It comes with a quality wooden hand-held mirror. The cards are sturdy like playing cards. Thete are a coupke of things I'd like to point out. I didn't like how some words were defined. We use "silly" a lot, like "I feel silly today." It's more like feeling "goofy". They defined it like in the dictionary; "Showing lack of common sense and judgment. Absurd and foolish." Also, the grumpy card looked like having tantrums and the definition was completely wrong. They defined the word "impatient" instead. The "hurt" card displays a child physically hurt. I was thinking "feelings are hurt". Anyway, I'm not going to really read out the meanings of the words. Overall, I am satisfied with these emotional cards.
