Comfortable
I am relatively new to doing squats in the gym and i can never seem to find a comfortable position to place the Olympic bar which means while i'm squatting the pain and discomfort distracts me from what i am doing.A friend in the gym i train at has a Manta Ray Squat pad which i have borrowed on several occasions and found to be much more comfortable than the bar.I decided that i would get one for myself and while searching online i found the squat blaster pad which is around £15 - £20 cheaper than the manta ray squat pad so i decided to give it a go first as it has a 30 day money back guarantee.I'm happy to report i have no intention of using that money back guarantee as i am very happy with the squat blaster it is very comfortable and distributes the weight of the bar and plates extremely well allowing me to concentrate on my squat and lift heavier as a result. My only gripes are that the material used to cover the padding is very smooth, i would have preferred a material with a bit more grip, and getting the squat blaster onto the Olympic bar can be a bit fiddly as it is designed to fit the smaller standard bars as well. All in a great little product that i would recommend to anyone who finds squats uncomfortable due to the pressure of the bar.

This is a must have if you experience lower back, shoulders and neck/traps pain when doing squats/lunges or calf raises!!
I usually don't write reviews but was compelled to do so following my experience using this pad. If you've been looking to buy a barbell pad, then you've stubbled on the right one! Look no further, get this one and watch Leg day become you favourite day. I've been using the York barbell pad for many years but was forced to look for an alternative pad because of three issues I experienced whilst doing barbell squats/standing calf raises/lunges:1) Shoulder discomfort due to restricted shoulder mobility and that impacted on the bar placement on my back.2) Lower back pain due to the weight distribution along my spine and bar placement3) Discomfort on my neck/traps as a result of the weight of the bar particularly when squatting heavy.I was pleasantly surprised that all three issues listed above were completely gone when I used the Squat Blaster Pad and that allowed me to focus on the lift rather than being distracted by the discomfort I felt. My favourite lift is the deadlift (441 lbs x 2 reps). With the Squat blaster, I can see squats challenging deadlifts for number one spot. The product is very compact and portable making it practical to carry in your gym bag if your gym only has the standard barbell pads.

Worth the money
Not a bad piece of equipment. Takes all that pain away! May take a bit of getting used to as it raises the bar up from your shoulder by a few inches and the new positioning of the arms feels different but no biggie! Worth the money.

If you squat- get one.
Like a lot of the other reviewers, I was initially put off by the price of the Squat Blaster but believe me- it's worth twice that. I have done squatting on and off over the years, but recently started a new training programme where I do 3 squatting sessions per week. My old homemade pipe-lagging neck protector couldn't cope with this amount of hammer and I was bruising my upper spine with the bar. The Squat Blaster is awesome- it really does spread the weight of the bar through the muscles of your upper back and neck, rather than the spine. I know one reviewer suggested that we should simply build up our trapezius muscles to support the bar, but in reality we need to throw some serious weight around before we get anywhere near that level, and the Squat Blaster allows you to do this pain free. It seems pretty robust and doesn't interfere with the form of the exercise in any way. Brilliant product. If you squat, and don't want to wreck your vertebrae, get one.

Limited use
Too smooth, also no use for shrugs as it just slides off your shoulders which makes it dangerous. The ordinary roll or tube type offer more versatility and better grip.

Not perfect but far superior to normal rollers
Previously I had been using the gym own foam rollers for squats. Yes I know all the bad asses say you should do it without but the weight is the same so making yourself uncomfortable will not get you any further. This is a similar principle to the foam rollers but far more effective. The pad is shaped underneath and spread the load of the barbell more effectively over the area it sits. It is also a lot denser than a normal foam pad so does not compress under heavier weights (I have tried it up to 150kg squats so far without issue). That said you still need good technique. IN particular positioning of the pad & bar is important and it is far too high in the picture of the guy on the packaging.Overall a great but that, provided you have good technique, will help improve your squats.

Is now one of my gym musts haves avoid the tube type ones they don't offer good support or help with your form
My partner and myself workout together and we use this mainly because when you start squatting the heavier weights we found that we were getting pain. I know we need to work more on trap muscles but I find while using this my squats are more stable and I can go up to heavier weights and still keep my form. The heavy squatters in the gym have tried it out and they have approved but won't use regularly as only softies need padding! Is now one of my gym musts haves avoid the tube type ones they don't offer good support or help with your form, these have indents for your shoulders so hard to go wrong!

Comfortable- no soreness enables effective workout
This Product Makes doing squats so much less painful. Just attach it to the bar the right way round place the bar across upper back and off you go. The design of the pad ergonomically fits across the upper back so much better than just a straight foam pad.Only tested with Warmup and light weights at the moment so not sure how heavy you can actually go with this pad- but it looks very well-made and solid.
