really nice shorts for summer boating and walking -- from a brand that I trust
Review of Columbia Men's Grander Marlin Iii Offshore Short (38W x 10L, Fossil)I have 3 other pairs of hiking shorts from Columbia. Their performance is top notch. I got these shorts because they have a more refined look to them. Unlike the rugged tight weave of the older shorts, these are more stretchy and softer. They might not hold up to sliding on rocks and such while hiking, but they definitely have a more refined look and feel. For sure these are the shorts that I will wear to summer barbecues and get-togethers when it’s blazing hot out. I’ll look good and feel good knowing that my sweat will wick away.Pros: * really nice shorts for summer boating and walking * nice elegant style to them; more refined than my older Columbia shorts * poly material promotes sweat wicking * quick drying * really well constructed seams, zippers and pockets * stretchy fabricCons: * fabric possibly not as durable as more rugged hiking shorts * only 1 cargo pocket; I wish there was 1 more on the other side * all pockets are mesh, which snags my car keys when hikingEarns 5 stars because they look and feel great, and are from a brand that I trust 100%.

Nice Shorts
These are nice shorts and are of the quality I usually expect from the Columbia brand. They have a nice breathable and quick drying material that is also comfortable and stylish. These shorts fit true to size and it is nice that they have different inseam lengths to choose from. Overall, these shorts fit nicely and seem to be well made. I would order them again.

Nice lightweight shorts from a great brand
These shorts seem high quality and well made. I have bought many things from this brand and I'm confident in their quality. These shorts are extremely lightweight, with a soft, light and stretchy fabric. Pockets are all mesh which I don't love because if you put things like keys or other sharp objects they tend to get stuck. I am 6'4 and I got the 10-in shorts and they are very very long! Also, the fit is a little looser and baggier than I like, and I even tend to like things that are a little looser and bagier! They don't have any taper, and so if you have thinner legs like I do they look a bit funny. Despite those criticisms, I do think that these are high quality shorts. If I had to do it over again though I would have gotten the shorter size.

Nice shorts. Fabric is lightweight and a little stretchy. Mesh pocket lining was a surprise
I ordered 36 waist, 8 inch inseam in college Navy, The waist sizing is fine a little loose), waist band and construction are great, and length is a little long for my preferences (I am 6’3” tall and the 8 inch inseam still almost reaches my knees). The legs are straight, not tapered, and are therefore a little baggy but will not impede movement during outdoors activities. I was disappointed that the pockets are mesh lined instead cloth because keys and pens can get stuck in them, but they will dry fast if they get wet. The zippered pocket on the side of the right leg is too short for an IPhone 12 Pro, but the front pockets are deep enough. The back pockets close with a button, not a Velcro, and are appropriate depth for a wallet.Overall a little long for my preference and i prefer a different pocket lining, but those are personal preferences and not an issue with these will made shorts by Columbia.

Comfy, fit as labelled.
Really pricey but they're nice. Good length (just above knees), mesh pockets, lightweight fabric that dries quickly, and a small zippered cargo pocket. I would prefer a snap instead of button on the waist but that's by no means a deal breaker.

Extremely Comfortable, Classic Styling
These are some great shorts from Columbia, and while they are ostensibly designed for anglers, they work just fine for those of us who rarely step offshore.Although I usually abhor polyester clothing, these shorts are great because they're not designed to be dress shorts, but rather sports shorts, workout shorts or fishing shorts. They look nice enough, however, that you can wear them doing daily activities and no one will think you forgot to change from your gym shorts. Two deep front pockets and two rear pockets are enough for most of us. Zippered fly seems well-made.These certainly aren't the least expensive shorts available, but they are among the nicest.Highly Recommended!

Good fit at the waist, but baggy
These shorts are intended for fishing and and claim to block UVA and UVB rays. I don't have a way of testing that claim, but will take it at face value.Pros:They seem mostly like other polyester, quick dry shorts as far as the quality of the fabric. They do have some stretch which is goodWaist fit is as expected. I ordered a 36 and it fits just rightOverall construction is solid - they appear to be well madeCons:All of the pockets are mesh, which means keys get stuck very easilyThe big logo on the middle back belt loop seems excessive and uglyWorst of all, they're straight leg with no taper and look super baggy. I don't have skinny chicken legs but these shorts make it look like I do.Bottom line: these are good quality, lightweight shorts that dry quickly, but they're baggy looking which detracts from overall appearance.

Love these shorts
These are great shorts. They material has a little stretch, but not so mch that they get loose in the waist. They stay put and are comfy and lightweight. They dry super fast and are nice and breezy. Yes, please.
