I'm not exactly that concerned about audio but using these instead of some small usb speaker...there was a pretty big difference in sound quality.It came in a fairly large cardboard box with some air bags for cushions. The actual box for the speakers isn't very big once i got it out of there.It's simple to set up and works with a laptop with no other things needed. Plug sub-woofer in, plug the 2 speakers into the back of sub-woofer, then plug the speakers into your computer. It took about 10-15 minutes to set up, most of it is just sorting out the wires. The wires aren't very long, so don't expect to put them far apart.As i said, it sounds great and the sub-woofer packs a punch.Delivery was quick in the UK, took four days for it to get to my house. Impressed with these, especially for the price.##UPDATE##29/06/2013##6 months after purchase and it's working great.Notes:I did find the base a rather overpowering. I used an equalizer to tone that down whilst making some other parts louder. However the front-ported subwoofer is sizeable enough.All the cables are ridiculously short, annoyingly limiting placement - this seems very mean.I looked for instruction/setup notes - however nothing but a 'quick installation guide' was included.Upon powerup, volume seemed adequate with a somewhat woolly bass and undefined top end.Together with the forward-facing port, the sub-woofer has a 90mm downward-facing speaker and I found that the bass tightens up a little by tilting the unit back.I really like the remote volume control with its line-in socket however it would be great to have a simple EQ control included.The upper mid-range remains a bit muddy and undefinedIn conclusion - not bad for the cost. I already own some Logitech computer speakers, valued at about £30 and these speakers are better than them and nearly half the price! Very deep bass, even when turned up full volume there is minimal static noise. Very cheap and very good speakers. I would strongly recommend buying these, especially considering the price. If you read the technical specification, you'll see that it's only a combined 11W RMS. I knew this before I bought it but just be wary if you are purchasing it yourself that you may not be getting what you think. Although, an 80W RMS system for under £20 would be pushing it!Anyway, the first thing that struck me about this product is how short the cables are. The power cable in particular is only about 1m long, so you'd better have a socket near where you want your bass speaker, as the power cable connects directly to it. The satellite speakers also connect to the subwoofer and again, the cables are irritatingly short, really limiting where I can place both the speakers and subwoofer in relation to each other. I can't, for example, place the speakers at head-height and subwoofer on the floor.I then switched the system on and was initially impressed by the power and volume that came from such small speakers. The bass is very powerful but I soon realised that it is just far too powerful. It is constantly thumping away at even the lowest volumes, which is irritating if you're just trying to listen to speech or using the speakers late at night. The bass is so powerful that it distorts the sound coming from the satellite speakers and of course you can't move the bass speaker further away from them due to the annoyingly short cable!The satellite speakers themselves are not without fault, they seem to struggle with anything more complicated than the most basic guitar riff, the sound coming through as flat and even tinny in some places - especially cymbals. Listening to Achilles Last Stand through these speakers is like having your ears cleaned out with sandpaper, it's that bad I'm beginning to wonder if I have a defective set, as even my PSP and ancient phone handle this track better than these speakers.Another niggle is that when turned down to a very low volume, only the left speaker works. I'm guessing this is perhaps further evidence of a faulty set and I have a feeling these may be going back soon.
