It was as good and easy as it could be for me to DIY install this and hook up the very large conductors to create an outlet to supply 40 A - 240V AC for the Level 2 Charger in my garage. Took me about a half hour to mount the junction box and run in the conductors and hook it up to this receptacle and then mount the receptacle in the box add the cover plate and its weather proof cover. However it took maybe four times that long to read up on how to do this and find the right fasteners to mount the box, and get everything ready and cut to the right lengths etc. Not to mention the week it took to figure out what junction box to buy. You want a deeper than normal square (4 gang) box with the right configuration of places to receive the screws from mounting this device centered in the box. you want plenty of room for bending and routing the large conductors within he box.

I needed a 6-50 outlet for my plug-in EVSE. I ordered this one, and the Leviton and Eaton 6-50 outlets, to see which would be best for my install.I needed an outlet that installs with the ground facing up, as the EVSE plugs in from above. Also, the #8 line enters the 4x4 2-gang surface mount box from below.The Pass & Seymour wires into the bottom, perfect for my application. The Eaton was the opposite, wiring from the top. The Leviton wires from the rear, which would have worked out, but the Leviton was the least robust of the three receptacles, just looked and felt cheaper.The Pass & Seymour connections were also the beefiest, heavy duty screws that hold the wiring very securely.I’m sure an electrician would have had no problem wiring any of these outlets, but for me the P&S was by far the best choice, with the most direct and simplest wiring run, and the most robust connections.

High quality, good price. As a group for a single project, I bought the Legrand - Pass & Seymour 3804 50 Amp Straight Blade Single Receptacle; Leviton 279-S00 50 Amp, 125/250V, Nema 14-50R, 3P, 4W, Flush Mounting Receptacle; Leviton 83026 2-Gang Flush Mount 2.15-Inch Diameter, Device Receptacle Wallplate (2); Hubbell-Raco 683 Two-Device Switch, 4-Inch X 2-1/8-Inch Deep Square Electrical Box (2); and the 50' 8/3 SOOW SO Portable Power Cord Outdoor Durable Flexible Wire Cable 600V, to make a 30 foot extension cable that goes from my 220 VAC dryer connection to the other end of my patio where I have a welding station setup. It’s a project that I am excited about completing because of the freedom it will give me and I won’t have to stumble over extension cords on the floor.

At first, was concerned part did not match pic with rivets. But, on second look, the 3 screws from the back and backplate support is an even better design. Quality part for my outdoor outlet project.

Don't know why, but I could not find one of these within 25 miles of where I live. Quality workmanship and true fitment. I'm a happy boy!

Very good quality with properly sized screw terminals. Back plate is a lot thicker than others I have seen, but this may make it harder to break away scored corner tabs. Mine differs compared to the one pictured in this listing. Mine has the back plate secured from the backside with 3 screws into the plastic versus rivets through front to back as pictured.

The plug was very easy to wire, but the the install into an electrical box was not what I expected. Being a 240VAC outlet, I expected I could use the existing dryer 240VAC box, but it required a size specific to the outlet, which was a lot smaller and a tighter fit for outlet and wiring. Easy to insert and pullout the mating male plug.
