softens rubber parts that are 30+ years old with no issues
i bought this to hopefully soften some carb boots on an 83 honda cb650 nighthawk. mix this with alcohol in a LARGE container that is airtight/water tight (and something that you will never use for anything else ever again. soak the parts for 12-24 hour and pull the parts and wash them let them dry for another 4-6 hours and inspect for bloating, if the parts are bloated let them dry for a while longer.its all about patience when working with this oil. the ability for it to soften old carb parts is outstanding the smell is ok but strong and lingers for a good long while.total $$$ of parts saved appx 1200 total over 3 old bikes worth of airbox and carb boots, carb diaphrams and misc rubber seals.

Works great for restoring vintage motorcycle rubber inlet boots.
I needed to soften up my GPZ 550 intake boots and this product worked amazingly. Do not use your wife's plastic measuring cup to measure it out it will ruin them. Added bonus of your parts smelling nice when you reassemble.

Buy This For Restoring Rubber!
If you're reading this, you're probably trying to restore old rubber motorcycle parts. BUY THIS! You'll have enough to last a lifetime, and it's by far the best value you can find anywhere for Wintergreen Oil Extract.I used 1 part of this oil to 1 part rubbing alcohol. I submerged some 35 year old carb insualtors from my 1981 Honda CB400T Hawk for 3 days. They feel like BRAND NEW PARTS. Actually more pliable than brand new, AMAZING! Restore your original parts with this stuff instead of spending time, money & aggravation trying to hunt down crappy parts on eBay that MIGHT fit.If you aren't restoring parts with this, enjoy the butt-ton of candy you must be making...

Very pungent wintergreen aroma
I bought this to restore my carb boots, but in the meantime, the closed, sealed bottle doubles as an effective room freshener.

Works well for softening cables
I purchased this to soften the rubber sheathing of some audio cables that have become quite stiff over the years. One-part wintergreen oil to four-parts solvent - I used alcohol but xylene works as well. This also works on other rubber components, such as boots and flanges on automobiles.I soaked my part for twenty-four hours, but this will vary depending on the size of of the component and type of rubber it is made of, as well as its age. You don't want to soak it too long, as this will cause it to swell, and on cables it can cause the sheath to become detached/loosened from the underlying wire. Just soak it enough to soften the part as desired. I would caution against using this on badly cracked cables or components - it will still soften it, but you may lose structural integrity. The effect is longer lasting than re-heating the cable, and unlike brake fluid, you don't end up with the oil bleeding out of the rubber again as it dries. This particular methyl salicylate seemed to work very well, so would recommend.

Pest Control
I use this for topical applications in historical houses in SoCalif. Drill several pin holes and shoot it in with a syringe ….. A little caulk and you’re done. Works way better than orange oil. Hope this helps. Thanks

This actually works to soften Old/Hard rubber!
Mixed this with rubbing alcohol and it softened some very hard 1978 CB750k air box boots and carb insulators, to look and feel like new parts! Check the progress often or your parts will enlarge and be junk. I tested it on a used oring type gasket and it enlarged almost twice it’s original size. It didn’t shrink back either. Glad I tested the solution before soaking my expensive parts. Wear gloves and soak in a well ventilated area. This stuff is harsh!
