Inherited Hunger

10/10
I have so many sticky notes and post-it flags with this book. Everything that stuck a nerve, something that hit home, it got flagged. There are aspects of my life where I feel stunted in growth because I was never really allowed to be a kid. This collection was made for the kids who were raised as miniature adults, for the āold soulsā who were always told they were mature for their age. We werenāt mature for our ages, we were put through situations no one our age shouldāve had to go through so young. Itās not the childās responsibility to heal the relationship that the adult broke. It took me until I was 25ish to learn that. Now relationships with certain family members are on my terms, not theirs.

Rose writes me on all of her pages
I cannot say enough or eloquently enough about Rose Brik's poetry. It is devastating, it is raw. It is real. It is my childhood, it is my adulthood, it is me as a mother. I paint the pages with my tears and keep reading. Her second book of poetry is utterly beautiful. I could only fathom writing the way she does. She knows me to my core. All of the mother and father wounds she writes of are my own. I cannot praise her enough. I am so thankful she writes and has published not one but two literary works now. It has helped me heal reading these words. Nothing I could say could even come close to how much it helps to read these words. It is so cathartic to know I am not alone. 10/10

10/10
Inherited Hunger serves as a light post for all of those who bury their generational pain & trauma in the shadows, deep inside themselvesāmostly because society minimizes it, or dismisses it entirely. She gives you permission to feel it all, as she feels it all with you. Rose is a profound poet, and she is pioneering a new path in the poetry world.

Moving, relatable, touching
Rose always does a phenomenal job at digging deep into childhood trauma. Both my parents struggled with mental health - my father was an alcoholic and my mother was mentally ill. She puts my feelings into words. I recommend every young woman who has a difficult relationship with their parents to read this book. 10/10. ā„ļø

Healing My Inner Child
This book pulled at all of my heart strings, it resonated with my childhood trauma, my relationship with my mom. RB has created a community for woman to feel like they're not alone. I recommend anyone healing to read this book and her other one My Father's Eyes, My Mother's Rage. š
