Q: I have an Aerogarden 7 since 2009 , 7 pods , do someone knows if this pump fits , i guess mine is broken

Yes, follow directions carefully, as it may seem upside down at first. Place wiring in track. Pumps need replacing a lot.

When I replaced mine it was plug and play very easy to switch... Ordered the replacement from Amazon

Yes indeed, it should make a noise, and you should see water running. Do you see a light on? If it lights up, but no noise, this pump is the place to start. Very quick and easy to install.

Q: How do you tell if it's broken or working?

If you are handy with a volt meter, you can check to make sure the Aerogarden is sending power to the pump. It has been a long while since I worked on mine, but if I recall it was 12VAC. I could be wrong so you may want to try your meter on AC and DC to make sure (it's low voltage and you won't hurt anything by setting your meter on AC or DC). If you have power coming from the Aerogarden connector and the pump isn't running, then the pump is likely bad or jammed. Be sure to check/clean the connector as it may have corroded over time. If it still doesn't work, check the intake of the old pump and make sure there are no roots or other debris inside. If there are, get some tweezers and try to get them out and see if the pump works. Even a small string of a root is enough to jam the pump and as you've probably seen, the roots really get all over the inside of these things. If there is no visible obstructions to the pump and it's getting power from the Aerogarden unit, the pump is bad and should be replaced. Be sure to clean the unit and trim the roots regularly to prevent them from growing or floating into the pump, it will make your pump last a lot longer. Hope this helps!
