So, I'm self taught and by no means am accomplished player. I can play a few Oasis and easy acoustic songs, more campfire than Hendrix. I heard about the Fret Zealot when it was being launched as a kick starter project some years ago. So finally seeing it available on Amazon and having watched several YouTube videos I decided to try it and I'm so glad I have. Pretty easy to apply, gave me the opportunity and excuse needed to re string my guitar. The version I have only fits my electric guitar which is why I wanted it. So once installed and paired with the free App (iOS and Android) you are ready to go. The app offers a number of different features, if you sign up there are some free YouTube style courses, you get a weeks free trial. There's also a tools section which offers a tuner for either electric or acoustic guitars, metronome, light showers, scales and chord where your fret board will either light up showing all the available scales or light uontonshow you where to place fingers, play or not play open strings, it has everything a beginner needs to familiarise themselves with their fret board. But the best part is the song library. Here you will find thousands of songs with 2 different learning abilities. Ai mode will listen as you place your fingers and playbeither notes or chords before moving on to the next note or chord, great for going at your own pace until you memorise the notes and or Chords to play. Then there is normal playback mode for one you have mastered the sine anfmg ready to play it as the song was intended. Each song may have different versions and you can also chose which guitar part if the some has different guitar parts. I think this taps into Ultimate Guitar Tabs which us what infirst used to Lear songs, this will now tell / teach you how to play by telling you where to place your fingers and which strings to play. This has helped me to re fall in love with learning to play my guitar after years of feeling I wasn't getting anywhere, this has helped me fall back in love, so mush so I also bought a rechargeable practice amp and loving it!!!!!!Also a massive shout to the guys at Fret Zealot and to Shaun for all their support, they have been nothing short of amazing and a real credit to Sellers on Amazon. Amazing product… it has kept my boyfriend occupied for hours! A really good quality product, easy to install and easy to make music playing progress with the supporting app. I had some initial problems with the purchase of the product ( nothing to do with the manufacturer) it was amazon sending the wrong item but Fret Zealot were amazing in helping me sort it. Their customer service is the best I’ve ever experienced so if you have any queries you know you are in good hands!

When I first saw this item I thought it was a very good way of transferring scales etc visually to the guitar. On its receipt (16th December 2019) I followed the information for installation including watching examples online. I put it on one of my medium cost guitars and was reasonably happy with it although I did feel that the connector felt particularly fragile.On the 20th December I had to go into hospital for a hip replacement, unbeknown to me I while I was in hospital my wife was getting things ready for Christmas so moved my guitar out of the way and put it up onto one of my guitar hangers.When I returned from hospital I went to get the guitar and was horrified to see that the connector had broken off completely.I immediately contacted Fret Zealot and they told me I would need to pay for a replacement Fret Zealot neck fitting, this was going to cost me $80 (this was after a $19.99 discount). I then found out later it would cost me another £20.24 ($25) in customs fees.Now at this point I resigned myself to the fact that I had paid over £85 for a replacement Fret Zealot and explained to my wife that the connector was very delicate and if she had cause to move the guitar she needed to be careful of it.However, when I removed my original Fret Zealot I was horrified to discover the amount of damage that had been done to my Rosewood fretboard (see images above). Whilst I am disappointed with how my fretboard looks after I removed the Fret Zealot I am only so glad I didn't fit it to one of my Gibson Guitars. I will not put it back on the original guitar, I will buy a cheap guitar from Harley Benton and fit it onto that, I will not be so worried about the eventual damage when it is removed.Good idea, poor design, damages guitar and costly to replace if needed.

The media could not be loaded.  It works well, feels great, must have.I played guitar starting with 14 but never improved my skills after starting working. I even forgot how to play songs and rare cords over time. Now after many years I restarted. Looking out for guitar training apps I found Fret Zealot and ordered it immediately. I added some songs to the collection and was able to improve my playing within an hour. Great!It helps to understand the fretboard better, identifies chords, notes and scales.Some hints:- Order the size that fits! Not the lowest price or best availability!- Take a lot of time to tape the LED strip to the fretboard. Think first. Check if it fits and if it works first. Then tape it on exactly row after row like in the official tutorial video.-Don't stretch or fold the LED strip. If you are unconcentrated or unused to such precise work ask better someone else. It's easy and quickly mounted but don't mess it up by getting stressed.-I glued the end of the strip including the connector with some hotmelt to the end of the fretboard to prevent mechanical stress to the strip.- Do not pair bluetooth like other equipment. You need no bluetooth password. Just switch bluetooth on at your mobile phone . Get connected from within the app.- Try also the partner apps from AppStore (ios only)- Find how to upload songs in the FAQ.Have fun!

Hello to all you review readers!!I have to say that when I first heard of Fret Zealot I was somewhat sceptical. I thought it would just be a gimmick, but I bought it anyway so I can put it through my own tests. I bought it in January and it sat under my bed for a long time. I installed it on to my guitar and surprised the hell out of me!!! It really is put together very well. The APP has lots of good features and works really well. The lessons in the APP are amazing and what I love is the lessons and the lights are in sync with each other!!! That's awesome!! The instructor strums a D major note, the lights show a D major chord and switches when the instructor changes notes. Scales are also lit up in any fret you want. Wow is all I can say. It's a great APP.Con/Pro: I did have an issue with the bluetooth connection, it started acting up and the lights didn't work very well, it was a mess and it kept crashing(the App) I got in touch with customer service, and right away they were ready to help me out with trouble shooting or replacing the product. I'm impressed, Sam didn't give up and continued to contact me with information on how, and what may be happening to my Fret Zealot. I had a glitch and the glitch got fixed. It really works. Now I hope they will put in more content into the APP for more practice and lessons. I give them 5 extra stars!! I recommend this to beginners and intermediate players.I really like this thing. I know I will get real good use from this, especially when playing lead and riffs. Go and get one I think you will like it too.

I had a problem with 2 LEDs. Upon my request I received promptly a new set of LED stripe.This system is really good if you dedicate a little time to understand how it works.It will help anyone from starting level until advance level.It will always help you to find the exact chords of songs since the library is huge and growing.Like I said I had a defective LED stripe. I only noticed after the installation. To avoid issues I would advice everyone to check before installing it.Since I had to remove the defective LED stripe to install the new one, I realized this product should only be installed permanently and should never be removed again. Make sure you install in a training guitar.Another tip I find important. After you pair it with Bluetooth for the very first time, I strongly advice:Everytime you use the app, to put the system off, and FIRST open the app in your phone and THEN put the system on. The detection in the app is automatic without any further issues.This system is only fragil during the installation. Do not stretch or force the LED stripe. Once installed it is absolutely great and it will work perfectly without issues.

J'ai essayé d'apprendre la guitare pendant des années, mais après quelques semaines, je l'ai rangé dans le placard. Ce produit est vraiment merveilleux! Avec l'application, c'est facile d'apprendre les nouveaux morceaux. J'avais un doute aussi sur quelle taille il me fallait, et le service à la clientèle ont répondu aux toutes mes questions et ils m'ont conseillé sur l'achat, ils étaient formidables! Attention sur le choix de la taille et surtout à l'installation, c'est très important de bien regarder les instructions (il y aussi un clip sur Youtube qui vous montre tout!).

Llevo 1 semana con el producto y ya he alcanzado el nivel que alcancé tras 2 meses de clases de guitarra grupales.En primer lugar aclarar que seguí el proyecto en kickstarter y he esperado pacientemente a que estuviera disponible para adquirir en España. Si estás leyendo esta review es que indudablemente te gusta la tecnología, pero has visto el precio y te parece una pasada pagar 190-200€ por algo que no sabes ni siquiera si te va a ayudar. Pues te doy perspectiva: unas clases particulares en grupo vienen a costar unos 50€ mensuales, si eres capaz de dedicarle 15 minutos al dia (ojo, unas 2 horas semanales) amortizarás el costo rápidamente. Eso si, haz la instalación bien, me explico, el producto lleva adhesivo 3M al dorso válido para UNA UNICA instalación. Si decides quitarlo de la guitarra la probabilidad de que rompas la placa electrónica que lleva a lo largo de toda la unidad es altísima y aquel que consiga despegarlo sin partir la placa habrá eliminado poder de adhesion del pegamento. Por tanto... eliges una guitarra para practicar y ESA es la que usarás con el FretZealot®, fin del asunto.Ahora bien, otra de las dudas que seguro te van a asaltar... ¿la medida del Fret Zealot es la correcta para mi guitarra? Pues ojo con esto. La primera versión es "compatible" con la inmensa mayoría de guitarras pero su ajuste NO es perfecto. El modelo sobre el que escribo es el FZ-G15 el cual es "válido" para guitarras de 24,75''-25,5''. Adaptándose perfectamente a guitarras de 24,75'' (Epiphone, Gibson, PRS...) y demasiado justo para guitarras de 25,50'' (Fender, Ibanez, Jackson, Schecter, Yamaha, y la mayoría de guitarras acústicas). Entonces, para los modelos 25,50'' lo ideal seria comprar el modelo específico y no el general, ya que el ajuste a los trastes a lo largo de todo el mástil va a ser el óptimo. A dia de hoy (17/09/2018) este modelo específico NO está en venta en Amazon y unicamente puede adquirirse mediante la web oficial del fabricante, accesible mediante busqueda en google: "Fret Zealot" y navegando hacia su tienda online. Esperemos que la medida 25,50'' llegue a Amazon pronto :), quizás con el nombre de modelo FZ-G16? A que esperais chicos de FretZealot?La App para el móvil FretZealot es muy útil, llena de contenido, lecciones y canciones. La selección de canciones es bastante decente y me imagino que irá ampliandose con el tiempo. El modo inteligente es alucinante ya que el programa te escucha al tocar y te va indicando las notas; veo grandes posibilidades para este modo y espero que vayan depurándolo poco a poco.Llegamos finalmente al punto más importante de la review: LA INSTALACION. Aviso a todo el mundo: SED CUIDADOSOS. Teneis que ver ATENTAMENTE los videos disponibles para instalarlo (buscad Fret Zealot en youtube y meteros en la cuenta oficial o bien instalaros la app y seguid la configuración de inicio). Todas las opiniones desfavorables que he visto en otras reviews o en videos en youtube admiten que instalaron la unidad con prisas y que no dedicaron el tiempo suficiente a entender el video. Gente, seguid los pasos. Y una vez instalado, así quedó. Si lo arrancais, arrancareis también la placa electrónica que lleva y adios FretZealot y la diversión lumínica :D- NOTAS IMPORTANTES para los que no entiendan los videos de instalación en inglés: Por lo visto el traste más importante es el PRIMERO. La segunda tira LED se debe adaptar milimétricamente a este traste. La tira LED NUNCA debe sobrepasar la anchura del mastil. La zona que debemos doblar debe tener suficiente holgura en los primeros trastes, (ya que la pegatina tiende a acabarse en los ultimos trastes) tenedlo en cuenta y NO la pegueis demasiado al borde en los primeros, ya que los últimos quedaran demasiado justos. Si haceis todo esto bien no habrá que lamentar víctimas electrónicas e instalareis la unidad sin problemas. He dicho ya que una vez pegado no puede despegarse? :P Suerte con vuestras guitarras y sobre todo, que viva el Rock! xD
