Very Relaxing!!
I have never tried Tai Chi until now. I have numerous injuries that plague me as I age, so I decided to start slow with this and see if I like it. Very different type of exercise from traditional types I learned. But, decided to be fair and give it a go. I have heard so much about it, and a friend loves it. Face massage was weird, but I guess it is a pressure point type of therapy to affect the whole person, from what I understood.Exercises were all doable for me, except there were enough repetitions that my shoulder began to act up. So, I did a few, and fast forwarded as I needed to. Had to quit on the shoulder exercises the last 10 minutes. Next time, I will reduce the number of reps I do so I can do the tape all the way through. Lasted 51 minutes.I have to say that I do hold my breath while exercising. Bad habit that is hard to break. Breathing in and out is stressed throughout the video, so you eventually do start to do it on your own. That alone is a big help to train me to be better at that, even on my own.I was VERY, VERY relaxed by the end. Pleasantly so. More relaxed than I remember feeling in a long time. I can see why this type of exercise and focus helps with overall health and tension! I have trouble sleeping, and I do think that, despite it being exercise, this could help lower my heart rate and relax me for an easier time of falling asleep. His voice is calm and soothing, the repetition of breathing and doing the motions also contributed.I will keep with it a few days a week.Negatives: He says this is the first part of a five-part series. The Amazon ad didn't mention that, or maybe I missed it. There is no video length listed on the case. I think there should be. It is not divided into chapters to allow you to skip and start right in on the exercises. Almost no explanations are given about what this particular exercise will help with, etc. No explanations about facial massage until some comments about the ear. I wish there was. Maybe it would disrupt or become monotonous to have to hear it each time the video is played. An insert could solve the problem. I like to know why i am doing something, not just blindly following. I will be sold on it if I understand, but tend to lose interest if I am not convinced. i will have to do a little research to see what facial massage is supposed to accomplish and to make sure I do it right.

Good video but long
The chair yoga exercise routine was well done & easily followed, it was just too long for me.

Just what my doctor ordered
At 80 years old, I'm totally deaf, so I need either closed captions or subtitles. Although the cover of "Gentle Sitting Tai Chi" depicts the closed caption logo, the disc actually features big, bold, easier-to-read subtitles. I'm happy with the serendipitous visual upgrade.Though some reviewers mention unsmiling instructors, Tommy and Melissa Kirchhoff are a pleasant-looking couple offering no-nonsense, undistracted, and easy-to-follow exercises.Besides deafness robbing me of good balance, I once suffered wounds in both legs and have a total hip replacement and an opposing total knee replacement, making standing Tai Chi problematic. However, I was able to safely perform half of all repetitions of this chairborne routine at first sitting.I recognized some primary movements of Tai Chi from long ago, as well as "wax on, wax off" training seen in a popular movie.I'm very pleased with this "Gentle Sitting Tai Chi" recommended by my physician and hope in time to graduate to a more traditional version.--Chase

Prefer this to countless others!
I rarely write reviews and must be extremely motivated to do so. This one is worthy of my time and effort and I believe will be worthy of yours.I got this for my wife who is always well- intentioned but physically limited. Of all the things she has available to her, including a pool membership for water exercise, and countless dvds of all kinds including ballet, essentrics, other tai chi and chi kung, lotte berk ( and I could go on and on), this is the one she loves and does faithfully because of the desire to do it. Some reviews may say it seems "too slow" or basic but the beauty is in it being completely able to be done, no matter how someone feels that day. And Tommy's instructions are so excellent- the best I have ever seen. He seems to have a skill in instructing others very precisely and simply. She can even do it with her eyes closed, just by having been able to follow his lead visually for a few sessions and listening to his verbal cues. If you want something that will get the job done, this is it. We just bought the standing version with hopes that she can progress but we know we can always return to the seated exercises whenever she needs them.

Video is to long and gets boring.
Bought this for my 101 year old aunt. She likes to do tai chi but this video does 10 reps of each exercise that gets so boring. I tried doing the exercises with her but we ended up fast forwarding thru most of it. I think it would have been better to do 5 reps of each exercise for a 30 minute workout. Then u could have 2 different workouts on one dvd. As it is, it is incredibly sloooow.

Helpful for Myasthenia Gravis patients
I suffer from Myasthenia Gravis, a disease that causes permanent progressive muscle loss, including muscles that enable swallowing, breathing, walking, speaking, etc. This little video was created to help people like myself.Exercises are calming. Facial, hands, arms, legs & feet exercises are helpful. If you do not need this type of physical therapy, dvd is not for you as it would be too easy.Folks who need gentle, seated physical therapy, this may suit your needs. Parkinson's patients, MS patients, stroke patients, etc can benefit from these exercises. Gentle head massages also help.

Practical aid to help overcome various age / joint issues
Having many age related issues was unable to exercise. Found the DVD very easy to interact with and found the emphasis on taking deep breaths very beneficial.

Disappointed
I will persist. At 72 I have not tried Tai chi before, but having recurring back pain , due I think to being locked down and old, I thought I would give this a go. I didnβt mind the people, but was very angry at their approach. The dvd is meant for the elderly. The first 15 minutes was taken up with head massage. I wear spectacles and hearing aids. Doh! Most elderly people do. So?????? No mention of that at all. Minus 10 for that.I will keep trying, but really!!!!!!!
