It's a great book. It lays a great foundation for anyone who is interested in constitutional law. It provides in-depth analysis that, while brilliant, is at times lost on the reader. This is exactly why I dock a star. This book makes me fundamentally question my grasp of the English language."This panoply of authority is used to defend property rights against spoliation by a capricious public" is but one example of how this entire book is written. Every single line is a new twist on the English language the likes of which I have never seen. It's beautiful to read, but nearly impossible to understand without a dictionary close by. It gets to a point where the writing is so complex and intricate that it distracts from the overall message. Multiple times, in fact almost every paragraph, I would have to reread to understand exactly what the author was saying. This is great when you are trying to impress a journal for publication, but not so great for regular readers. This book is perfect for the attorney, the pre law student, or the person looking to challenge themselves with difficult reading regarding a difficult topic. I love it and welcomed the writing style. In that regard this book excels. But for everyone else, I cannot fathom this book being enjoyable to read.
