A People's History of Chicago (BreakBeat Poets)

While names like Daniel Burnham
Having lived in Chicago for over a decade, this book taught me so much about our city's history than I'd known or been told. While names like Daniel Burnham, the Daley family, and others are so predominant in the lore of Chicago, this book shines the light on the untold stories of real Chicago: men and women who stood against injustice, were unjustly treated, and who were an essential, but often unknown part of our history. I cannot recommend this book more highly for anyone who calls Chicago home.
