Awakening From Alzheimer's: How America's Most Innovative Doctors are Reversing Alzheimer's, Dementia and Memory Loss

A must read to stay informed and help someone living with Alzheimer's
Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia among older people. It is a neurodegenerative disease that damages the parts of the brain controlling thought, memory, and language. AD is named after Dr. Alois Alzheimer, a German doctor who, more than 100 years ago, studied the brain tissue of a woman who had died of an unusual mental illness, and found abnormal clumps (now called amyloid plaques) and tangled bundles of fibers (now called neurofibrillary tangles). Today, these plaques and tangles in the brain are considered signs of AD, as are other brain changes, including the death of nerve cells in areas of the brain that are vital to memory and other mental abilities and the disruption of functional connections, called synapses, that allow nerve cells to communicate with each other. The disease is also characterized by lower levels of some of the chemicals in the brain that carry messages between nerve cells. AD may impair thinking and memory by disrupting these messages. There probably is no single cause of AD. The most important known risk factors are age and family history, although education, diet, and environment might also play roles. Scientists are also finding evidence that some of the risk factors for heart disease and stroke—such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and low levels of the vitamin folate—might increase the risk of AD. Evidence is also increasing for physical, mental, and social activities as protective factors against AD. Although scientists have learned a great deal about AD, they still do not know what causes the disease and have not identified a cure for it.This book is truly a treasure of research and tips on how to address the symptoms of Alzheimer's, especially in the first and second stages of Alzheimer's. I have adopted the recommendations for my husband, Maj. Larry S. Potter, USAF Ret. (Remembering4You(dot)com) even if he is now in the advanced stage of his Alzheimer's. It has made all the difference in the world for him and he has regained so much. For example, he had not spoken full sentences for about 1.5 years. Now he speaks full sentences, is asking questions such as "Are you happy?" or "What did you say?", and he is able to move his arms to reposition his own pillows and his legs are moving again with the feet reaching to touch the floor. He stopped walking almost 3 years ago now.I like to say that adopting some of these recommendations such as Prevagen(R) and Lion's Mane to replace the standing Alzheimer's medications prescribed today with all sorts of dangerous side effects is a breakthrough for millions of individuals.Dr. Ethelle LordPioneer in Alzheimer's Coaching

A Book Everyone Should Read
It's criminal what the medical establishment is doing to seniors and the rest of society with their junk science, pill pushing poison greed. I am using only two of the natural supplements recommended on my 86 year old Mom who now shows remarkable improvement in her stage 2 vascular dementia. I'm now going to use all of the recommended supplements with hopes of reversing or do I dare say cure her of her disease. She also was on 5 medications for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes, with a change to organic food, organic virgin coconut oil, clean water (no fluoride) and Youngevity supplements she now takes zero meds. She has no high blood pressure, normal to good cholesterol, and blood sugar levels <125mg/dL. She eats no sugar of any kind especially HFCS, (stevia for sweetness)that means no processed foods (nothing boxed), no flour only buckwheat, only gluten free pasta, no soda of any kind and almost no fried food (she likes her goetta) only pleasure she is allowed LOL... The thing is it cost less to eat organic and purchase the supplements then it cost for the drugs, of course most people never see the real cost of the drugs due to Medicare and Medicaid coverage. Need to read the book Dead Doctors Don't Lie by Dr. Joel Wallach as a supplement to Awakening from Alzheimer's.

Alzheimer's
As this book was for me to understand how my friend is feeling with her mother having Alzheimer's it was quite informative and gave me a lot of insight. It is very difficult to understand when I do not see her but I am sure this book would help anyone to try and reverse the problem.
