Great read!!!!
The stories in this book were very interesting and engrossing. The author doesn't shy away from admitting her mistakes and her challenges as a novice veterinarian. And book really captures the flavor of the Dorset countryside. Hopefully, a sequel will follow.

An excellent read!
A very interesting book of the early years of a vet's life in the country. A good mix of stories. Anna's personality comes through clearly. A delightful read!

Pleasant
It was an OK book. Read it to daughter who wants to be a vet and she thought it was a little boring and wordy.

Feel good book
It was a really good read—very much in the James Harriott vet story style. Having grown up on a farm and worked in agriculture, this was most enjoyable.

Heart warming read. Left me wanting more
I hope this the first of many more written by Anna as I will be seeking them out. Humorous, well developed characters (animals and their people), realistic and heartwarming stories. The true life of a vet without the usual sugar coating.

A nice memoir of a first-year vet.
I liked this book and the descriptions of a new vet adjusting to people and the job. I also enjoyed the descriptions of the local landscape.

Good Reading
I love any books (non-fiction) about animals. This was a good book. Highly recommend, especially if you're an animal lover.

Beautifully told story will have you laughing and crying
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It's a beautiful mix of side-splittingly funny and heart-wrenchingly sad, but it takes hold of you right from the very first page, and keeps you avidly turning the pages right to the very end. It is a no-frills description of the highs and lows and the sheer nitty gritty hard work of a first year vet, with a fascinating cast of characters, both human and animal. There will undoubtedly be comparisons with James Herriott (that's a cross that vet authors will have to bear for the rest of eternity) but this book stands up very well, and is a great read in its own right. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

I could not stop reading!
I could not put the book down once I started. Being a farmers son myself it was fabulous to hear it from the. Eats point of view. Every twist and turn had me gripped. I even shed a few tears with her. When I got to the end and turned the page and expected more! Did she marry Rob? Did rocky ever behave? How was later life with the surgery? Did she move on to bigger better things? So many questions to ask... I NEED to know! I hope there is a sequel to this book or even a series! I'd be in utter bookworm/farmers boy/vet wannabe heaven! I'd also love to get in contact with Anna to personally write to her about the book and to congratulate her. Again, a fantastic read and I cannot wait for more, I seriously hope there will be! Move over James Herriot! An that's coming from a guy who grew up in the village and dale it was filmed in and has met the man himself.

Pretty scenery
Short story, pleasant read for reading poolside, pleasant scenery described, could do with more technical feature. Expounding on Africa perhaps
