Are You A Team Player?
John Maxwell is prolific and consistent in his leadership writing and messages. In this book, it is as much about being a follower as a leader - and how to set the tone as a team member or leader. Like most of Maxwell’s books, it is well organized and well written with bite sized chapters and great summaries and calls to action.

Identified my blind spot about teamwork and able to make a change before it’s too late
I have been listening to John’s speeches and podcast about leadership, but after a recent event that caused me to stepping down as team leader, I picked up this book in my kindle library to relearn how to be a good team player. The root cause of my previous failure is I did not totally put the team interest above myself. That gap causing most impacts of our efforts were not realised. I’m grateful I learn it now (it’s late but not too late) and will put in practice. Thanks John and team for this amazing copy.

Changed my view.
John C Maxwell is an awesome author. This book completely changed my mind and my viewpoint on who was the major problem and guess what it was not my boss's or my team members. This book actually helped me get a promotion and now I am making $10,000 more a year. This is not a guarantee that you will make more money by just reading this book, but you have to implement the practices that he illustrates on all the 17 qualities. It is a great listening tool and great read. I highly recommended to all my co-workers and even my boss started reading it as well. This book helped change my life for the better.

Great Book
I've seen John Maxwell speak in person, and he's really an amazing good person. His principles are so applicable even to just normal life. Not only is John one of the most sought out coorperate organizers and workplace teachers; John is also a Pastor, and the principles he teaches are even biblically based.I like this book for its easy to read simplicity, engaging stories, practical application suggestions and reflection thoughts. He organizes each chapter/idea with a thoughtful quotes, a real life application story called "Fleshing It Out","Reflecting On It" meditation questions,"Bringing it Home" ways to apply the ideas discussed, and a "Daily Take Away" which is a last concluding devotional or rap-it-up idea or story that reaffirms the principle tought. If you just apply some of the suggestions in this book it will make you a better leader, team player, and just simply a better person.

Mostly fluff
I've read most of Maxwell's stuff and I'm not a huge fan. This book is another in his series of "17" books, and I find that once again he could have combined most of them and made it the five or six essential qualities of a team player. The book is laid out systematically: name of the quality, feel-good story, 3-5 points of explanation, 3-5 points of application, next quality. It's chocked full of stories and quotations, so if you're looking for anecdotes, this is the book for you. It's a very easy read. It's not a bad book and there are a few points that I found useful, but for the most part it's just a run-of-mill Maxwell book. He's more of a storyteller. If you're looking for a good book on improving teamwork, I would recommend Patrick Lencioni's "Overcoming the Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Field Guide for Leaders, Managers, and Facilitators".

Great read.
I love the team concept. I hope everyone company includes this book in training as a lot of people are unhappy in their current situations, which I believe is related to not knowing how to function with others for a common purpose.

Based upon proven principles - simple to read.
I have used this book with over 40 people broken into four groups. One chapter at a time, they read a chapter, then in group settings, each person shares what the chapter meant to them. The discussions are where the pay dirt is found. This is a powerful way to share timeless principles.Dick Warn
