Seeking Sarah: A Novel

The characters develop significantly throughout the novel allowing the pace of the story to flow nicely. The drama builds with every page and one is not sure what Brooke will do next. The twist at the end caught this reader by surprise and the riveting ending to a storyline that needed to be communicated. Once again, ReShonda delivers excellence in storytelling. A MUST READ!

First let me say that I enjoyed reading this book. RTB is one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed the story and a lot of the story was real to me. My husband's mom left him and his 5 siblings and their lives were never the same! I still see the effects of her abandonment on her children's lives.....it has even affected our marriage because of the pain my husband experienced. Some parts of the story didn't flow well for me but in all I enjoyed the book. I'm not giving away any spoilers or retelling the story but this is not your typical feel good reunion story!

At seven years old, Brooke lost her mother. Years later she would lose her father, Jacob. After his death, Brooke began to learn about the many secrets surrounding her life. These secrets would lead to a heavy disagreement with Trent, her finance. Her grandmother tried to help her understand the past. To learn all of her past, she would have to leave Raleigh and go to Atlanta.It is easy to feel deep sympathy and empathy for Brooke. There are feelings for mothers too. All mothers step out on an unknown path. There are dramatic stories some mothers can tell. This one in "Seeking Sarah" rings true. I think we've all felt some of the mother's feelings or the emotions of the daughter. There comes a time when these words are taken with more than a grain of salt. "Tired of the games...Tired of the losses."ReShonda Tate Billingsley's "Seeking Sarah" is an emotional book. It leaves me hoping to find any Sarahs in my life. Sarah is such a meaningful name. Oh, please tell "Daniel Black" hello, and there is a prayer for his future success along with your future success and further explorations to find your Inner Oprah

I received this novel on the day it was issued and completed it within two days. This novel covers several topics, expectations, hurt, lies,deceptions, revenge,control and second chances. A second chance is what Brooke eventually finds with Sarah after seeking revenge. Trent is suspect from the beginning. He has control issues. His love for Brooke is also suspect.Billingsley's novels always leave you with "what if?" I own all of her books and often, I wish she would write a sequel. There really needs to be a sequel to this one and "What's Done In The Dark." You can never go wrong with a Billingsley novel!

Lies, and Secrets have a way in making one to start having doubts about themselves and feeling unloved. especially when you have questions about you mother's abandonment when your father Jacob chooses to fabricate a lie in hopes this would be sufficient and said that "your mother died" In his own mindset he thought that this answer would resolve all doubts Brooke may would've had about being "motherless", even though Jacob provided a stable home life for Brooke there was always "missing pieces to this whole puzzle" that left her having unanswered questions that she couldn't ask her Dad that definitely needed to be answered from a woman's perspective. An unfortunate incident occurred regarding her father's health which left him in a life-threating position that he felt he needed to "come clean" with Brooke about was that HER MOTHER WAS ALIVE!!!!Even though Brooke harbored ill feelings towards her dad after being told the truth about her mother. She was determine to located her at any cost she hired a Private Investigator she depletes the joint back account that her and her fiance Trent had their savings to start a life together, against Trent's "better judement" which cause them to disengage their lives regarding their marriage plans., Determinded to locate her mother she "throws caution to the wind" In her search she discovers that her mother has started a new life and a new family, not once giving her a second thought. But you can guarantee one thing the outcome wasn't what Brooke nor her mother Sarah had expected it to be. Sometimes in life one will find it's best to leave "pandora's box" closed not unless your up to facing the ugly reality that one will have to face.OR IS IT?

The book was a great read. I was hoping that the long lost mother have had this BIG secret at the end. As to why she never returned home. Instead the mother just kept saying, "we just need to talk". The brother Alex I was hoping had a DARK SECRET as well. Just to have a mental illness was almost expected the way the story was going. We don't know why him and ex broke up, we don't know why the sister said he has another side, and we don't know why the mother was so protective over him.... beside his biological mother died at 13. The husband of the mother, um not very much information. Just being a typical man with a beautiful woman. Poor Brook, the only joy she had was at the end. It was not the alternative joy she was hoping for, but she got her peace. Overall good read.
