BANE Sins of Saint Book 4 by L.J. ShenThe Sinners of Saint is such an excellent series and this installment is no exception to this world. Bane is so good! It is absolutely one of the best of L.J. Shen’s career. This is the story of Bane and Jesse. He is the bad boy prostitute for his rich cliental, a dealer, a surfer who loves to surf in the buff. Jesse is beautiful, broken, with a lot of traumas in her past. He gets the task from her step dad of bringing her out of her shell without getting too close to her.Their story is heart wrenching, emotional, angst filled, addictive, intense, passionate, and one that is impossible to put down. This is 5 stars.

Bane is one of those books that you simply have to read. It's a beautiful story about Bane befriending Jesse, who has gone through a tragic ordeal that has caused her to withdraw from life. As Bane tries to bring Jesse back to reality, he finds himself falling for the broken girl.The banter between Bane and Jesse is hilarious. Despite being an emotional tear-jerker, it's also incredibly passionate. Bane is truly an amazing character.

Bane first sees Jesse years ago and was impressed by her beauty. A few years later, he wants to buy some property in town and needs a wealthy person to invest. He meets Darren Morgansen, Jesse's stepfather. Darren agrees to front the money if Bane helps Jesse come out of her recluse shell. His one condition is Bane cannot touch Jesse. At all. Bane doesn't realize who Jesse is when he agrees to this.The book follows Jesse and Bane forming a friendship and deeper relationship. Jesse has some past trauma so she's also sorting through it. She was assaulted a few times. One of then she can't remember, the other swept under the rug. Through her relationship with Bane, pieces of the puzzle are put into place.Great story and wonderful ending to the Sinners of Saints series. I loved Bane and his care free attitude. The audio version was perfect. Great narrators.

"hey, roman, what's the antonym of hate?""jesse."BANE has several trigger warnings so please check them before you read!!this book is so incredible. everything about this book was perfect, and i don't see why jesse and bane are underrated. this book was pretty different from all the other books in the series. it has a very different and serious tone compared to defy, vicious, ruckus, and scandalous. not to say that the other books were a walk in the park, but BANE was on a whole other level.BANE, unlike most of lj shen's books, is not an enemies to lovers story, and i'm glad for it. even though i am a sucker for that trope, the way the author wrote strangers to friends to lovers and employee/boss worked so well. it was so very important to jesse's journey of healing.this book is told in alternating povs, with some flashbacks. with this, we see the trauma jesse suffered through and how it affects her present day. BANE starts with bane protsenko seeing jesse carter on a beach one day, and then jesse on the night her body was violated by three guys she thought she could trust. this part was so gritty and raw that it had me emotional from the beginning. then there is a cut to about a year or two later, where we see where jesse and bane are after that night.jesse became isolated and depressed, withdrawing from society and feeling like she lost all purpose in life. when you read this, you can't help but feel for her. after that night, she is broken and lost, but her character is very, very strong. and after all she went through, she really just deserves the world. bane, on the other hand, is struggling to make it into the business world and build a name for himself. so he ends up striking up a deal with jesse's stepfather- he gets millions of dollars and in exchange bane helps coach jesse back into the real world outside of her bedroom walls, where she has been hiding for a long time.when i first read that, i was a little skeptical because i thought that bane would use jesse and see her only as an obstacle into securing a business empire. but lj shen did not take that route, and instead focused on healing and falling for each other. it was the most beautiful and real story i've ever experienced, and i would do anything to read it again.bane was not the typical "alpha hole" or dominant male characters we usually read about in new adult romance. he is patient, respectful, and loving, always looking out for jesse and never pushing her beyond what she could take. he did encourage her, but he knew her boundaries. jesse was absolutely his soulmate. bane helped her, but she was the one who faced her demons head on. who punished everyone who did her wrong. who held her head high and started to heal. and while doing this, she also saved bane. she taught him that he was more than just an escort or a reminder of what happened to his mother. she gave him a purpose beyond surfing and making money. i think they’re my favorite book people.BANE will be one of the books i will never forget; it shows that even after all you've been through, there is always be a little bit of hope left.

PLEASE READ TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING THIS BOOKThis book had so much TW and a really sensible theme so please read the trigger warnings the author states before reading it.It was a good book, I enjoyed it but for me it had a really slow pace, not in romance but the book in general, it took me soo much to read it even though I wanted to finish it quick. It was nice to see the way the FMC grows from everything she went through and the way she was barely living to the way she ended. Also the way the MMC falls in love it’s really cute and nice. The thing, for me was the story could had been better if it was shorter, the chapters are waaaay to long for me but this story may be for someone else. I really don’t think this book was necessary Mainly because the main for this story was to see Vicious successor and I think I was expecting exactly that but it really took a 180° turn.Still, just for the feeling of ending this series was good and enjoyable just don’t think I will remember it next year. So for anyone who wants to get the feeling of ending the series, yeah it’s ok to read it.

I was SO curious about Bane in Edie’s book and I was so excited to know he got his own story.This story is tough but it’s SO worth it. In the beginning you Bane who is looking for an investor for his business plans and he is lead to Darren Morgansen who agrees to back him under one condition. He wants Bane to help his step daughter.After a traumatic event that leaves Jesse utterly destroyed, she withdraws. Bane is meant to bring her out of her shell under the condition that he can’t seduce her.What starts off as an easy task quickly gets complicated when they meet. Only because this isn’t the first time he has seen her. The last time was years ago and he felt the pull then that is still there in the present.Jesse is hands down one of my favourite heroines that I’ve ever read. My heart broke for her back story but Bane helps her get the courage to stand on her own feet and demand Justice. It was so powerful to see her take matters into herself and realize that she is strong enough to save her damn self.This entire series is amazing but this story will always have a special spot in my heart.

If there is one book worth reading by this author, it would be this one. It is the only one with real substance, that doesn't sugarcoat things and treats real issues.It is a Snow White retelling with a raw and angty topic, deprecating humor and amazing characters. It's not a full 5-star read though due to the "too perfect" ending. But we get great characterization and development arcs and hard topics (rape, abuse, bullying).

I don't think I have enough words to explain just how EPIC this story was! It was flawlessly written and took you through a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Highly recommended 🧡
