Truly truly gripping
Lots of books these days use “gripping” but when you truly read them you’re like “what? Where was the gripping storyline?”This one truly is gripping from start to finish!I demolished it!

It was good. Lots of twists and turns.
Nick and Jen were childhood sweethearts. The were married young (Jen was 19, Nick was 21) And they had a great life, Nick excelled at his job and moved up in the ranks and made a ton of money. But that was Nick's way, whatever he set his sights on he made happen. Except having a child. Jen and Nick were never able to have one.And then one day Nick (who is now in his forties) met Natasha (who is early 20's) and they began an affair and Natasha became pregnant. Nick is over the moon happy. He is finally having the child he always wanted. He divorces Jen and then he and Natasha are married and have a daughter Emily. But Jen will not let Nick go, she is constantly calling him for one thing or another. And when Natasha complains to Nick he brushes her off and tells her she needs to have more compassion for Jen. Add to the fact that Nick's family still loves Jen and invites her to all family function.Natasha has had enough and was planing on leaving Nick. But he beats her to the punch. When Natasha goes to pick up Emily from Nursery school (where Nick had supposedly brought her in the morning) she is not there. When she gets home she notices that all of Emily and Nicks things are gone. With no where else to turn, Natasha accepts Jen's help in finding them. But why would Jen all of a sudden want to be friends and help her?The book is told in 2 time lines. Then from the POV Natasha and Jen and Now from the POV of someone named Anna. There are a few twists and turns. Some I figured out, some I didn't.Did not really like any of the characters in this book. Natasha was too naive, Nick was an ass, Jen was a bitch. But even though I did not really like any of them I did enjoy the book lol. In fact about 70% the way through something was revealed and it really made me mad. So much so I that I had to stop reading for a bit. But then as I read a bit more I figured out what was going on so was not as mad lol And even though I had some things figured out, it did not ruin the rest of the book for me. In fact I think it made it easier for me to read lol Plus there were a few more twists I didn't figure out.The ending was good, bit open ended. I wouldn't be opposed to a sequel :)

(Spoilers) worth reading, but there are questions that didnt get answered.
It was a good book, it was hard to put down. I looked forward to watching the mystery unravel. Except even after the ending, the prologue makes no sense. Why would Emily come back years and years later to visit coma dad? Tasha couldnt have had anything good to say about him to make her want to see him. Why the sudden time jump? And "what did they do to you?" Who is she referring to? Unless this was supposed to be a dream or hallucenation, where his prized daughter comes to see him as an adult, and feels bad for him and gets in on the illusion that the 2 ex wives he screwed over were actually out to get him, and that he is definitely the victim. It seems unlikely. It was a good hook at the beginning, but it doesnt seem to tie in with the ending. And the ending, while it was fine, I wish there was some more closure. I get the shock of Jen seeing Emily, and then the last puzzle piece falling into place, with the story of Tasha during the accident. But I want to know how Jen reacted? Was she upset, relieved? Did Sam ever follow up, or did he just fade away while going to tell Tasha what he thought was big news? Did Jen move by the sea near Tasha, or did she go back to live with Chris again? I guess it doesnt matter since the story is over, but I feel a little unsatisfied with that much of it. Even an epilogue would have been nice. And there was seemingly a lot of alluding to "when nick wakes up" even with his own little passage at the end. I feel like a lot of stuff was left open ended for a sequel, but I havent found one, nor any mention of one in the works. I would still reccomend this book for sure, it had a lot of amazing qualities and an awesome mystery that was difficult to piece together until the ending. If anyone has answers because they noticed something I missed, please feel free to comment because I would love to know. Even after ranting Im still bothered by these questions.

A first class psychological thriller. Spoiler included.
This was a riveting page-turning mystery/thriller full of twists and surprises. Its main character, annoying in her naivety bordering on stupidity, provides the momentum for a roller-coaster plot. With every 'down' in the 'up and down' narrative I grew more and more angry with the choices this character made. However, in the final moments of the book she finally rises to the occasion. I loved the way the author wrote each chapter from the point of view of the key characters in a time frame consisting of 'then' and 'now.' My only complaint was that the book ended abruptly. I was beyond thankful for the happy ending, but so much so that I would have appreciated an additional chapter or epilogue describing the reunion of Natasha and her kidnapped child Emily. I would have liked further development concerning the path taken by Jen. Did Jen and Natasha become friends? Did they spend more time together, both enjoying baby Emily? I hoped both women would seek protection from the courts if Nick revived, but realized this was out of the scope of the narrative. Certainly Natasha's refusal to go through the courts to get back her abducted child was infuriating as was her handling of her relationship with Chris, a man too nice to be rejected so rudely. In sum, I thank the author for a happy ending to such an upsetting story line but would have appreciated a further explanation of what transpired after the fact. I highly recommend this book.

Good twisty thriller
Once I started this I couldn't stop very fast paced. Plenty of twists and turns. This was better than I expected and would highly recommend.

Suspenseful
Love Jess's writing style. You think you have it worked out but good writing leads to a great ending. Good reading.

Thought I had it figured, I was wrong!
I have to say I enjoyed this far more than I had thought I would, and I’ve now gone and bought 3 more Jess Ryder titles. I found the characters pretty convincing (the husband was a bit 2 dimensional but can’t have everything!) and the twists, of which there were several, all really worked.
