BarbourMen's Classic Bedale Wax Jacket

Full disclosure- I bought this jacket ( brand new with tags on it) in a silent auction at a Fundraise in Winter of 2023. I did not purchase thru Amazon vendor. Fit and style were exactly what I expected ( only reason it got 2 stars). List on jacket was $395, I paid $450 just to help the cause . In late Spring of 2024, I put the jacket in a closet will all my winter/cold weather coats. Fast forward late fall 2024- I go to get the jacket out and the closet stunk. I discovered the source of the smell was the most expensive jacket I had in there- the Barbour Bedale. I was able to get the stink out of the other jackets, but even after cleaning every way I could find on the internet, nothing helped. I took to the store that donated it to the charity originally, and with a straight face the salesman told me "all Barbour jackets smell like an old army pup tent". I determined the stink was in the fabric liner and spent another $100 and the jacket to be cleaned/ reproofed. Minimal if no difference. It still stinks. Just a word to the wise, if yours ends up smelling, keep a hook in the corner of your garage or an outbuilding to hang it... you cannot live with the smell inside your house or closet, and you cannot give it away. Buyer beware. I didn't spend the money i spent to end up not being able to enjoy it. Maybe others will have better luck. I won't replace it with another Barbour for fear of a repeat, and a lot of money just thrown away.
