ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS BOOK...
I'VE HARDLY PUT THIS BOOK DOWN SINCE IT ARRIVED(I'VE EVEN READ IT INTO THE WEE SMALL HOURS). IT'S DESCRIBED AS IN "VERY GOOD CONDITION "BY MUSIC MAGPIE, WHICH IS A VAST UNDERSTATEMENT, AS IT'S PRACTICALLY NEW. THANK YOU AS ALWAYS MUSIC MAGPIE, YOU'RE BRILLIANT. AS CAN BE GATHERED BY THE TITLE, THE BOOK UPDATES A LOT OF INFO ON THE BEAUTIFUL PLANET SATURN, ALL AMASSED FROM WHAT IS CONTINUALLY BEING REVEALED BY THE (SADLY NO MORE) CASSINI HUYGENS ROBOT PROBE.AS THE BOOK IS WONDERFULLY BIG, YOU GET A REAL SENSE OF THE MAJESTY OF THE SATURNIAN SYSTEM, WITH IT'S MYRIAD OF SATELLITES, AND THE CONTRIBUTORS SURE KNOW THEIR STUFF.. NO NEED FOR ANY MORE COMMENT... EXCEPT GET A COPY OF THIS SUPERB BOOK

A wonderful book
`Saturn: a new view' presents 150 images from the Cassini-Huygens mission to the ringed planet. Some are reproduced in print for the first time in this volume in extended photo-essays. And the pictures are amazing. It is well-worth going through at least twice. On the first time you can be awed by the sheer spectacle, on later viewings you can take in the subtle details. Just marvel at the range of colours and tones in the rings, the range of craters on Hyperion, the variations in Saturn' s cloudbands. Between the pictures, there are excellent essays on the Cassini-Huygens mission, the planet Saturn, its rings and its moons. The text is as much a pleasure to read as it is to view the pictures. I cannot recommend this book too much.

A Treasure Forever
I have now purchased copies of this book for two adult children, my husband, AND my five grandchildren ages 9 months to 8 years! The 9 month old has yet to comment on it. However, each of the other children 8, 6, 5, and 2 1/2 have shown interest in the book. It sparked interest in astronomy for our family. Our little people now have glow in the dark planets, and stars in their bedrooms, have shown interest in the planets and constellations and ask questions constantly that send us to the web for answers. There are now three telescopes in the family and outside isn't just for daytime activities anymore. It has also meant the purchase of very warm coats, mittens, and hats for treks to the mountains for star gazing. The book is absolutely beautiful. Thanks to the authors for putting the beautiful pictures into context for us and performing that magical trick of sparking our curiosity and interest.

Sublime images of an all too fantastic world
For me this is a superb collection of images and text relating to our more "up to the minute" knowledge of the ringed planet and it's accompanying constellation of moons and moonlets, the slightly oversized format is ideal for viewing this style of photography, in that it allows you to get some grasp of the scope and scale involved in the outer planets. We are given a window out of science fiction into the more breathtaking realm of natural beauty. More dazzling to the eye than Jupiter, Saturn captures the imagination for me like no other world and this book shares the amazing images beamed back to us from nearly unimaginable distances and makes the unfamilier seem all the more majestic and awe inspiring. If you are a fan of astronmical photography, the Cassini space probe or just have an interest in the raw beauty of science and exploration, this book is a must have.

Fantastic Eye Candy views for this Amateur Astronomer
So glad I bought this book. As an amateur astronomer for over 40 years I have viewed Saturn dozens of times with my 20 inch telescope and am always impressed. The Cassini and Huygens images in this book are spectacular. My jaw dropped. The pictures are true eye candy. So much detail and beautiful. The book gives good detailed information too. This book truely is a beautiful masterpiece work of art. The pictures are too beautiful to be put away in a home library.Buy two copies. One for your home library and one for the coffee table for all to see! This is the kind of picture book parents should show and read to their children and then let the kids view Saturn on a telescope. Such beautiful pictures in this book could spark their interest in Astronomy for life.

Breathtaking Visualizations of the Lord of the Rings
Lovett's Saturn book is a tribute to the Cassini mission science team in images. The visualizations tell so much about the new knowledge now being acquired from the spacecraft in orbit of the planet. While the book is short on scientific detail, it is not designed to be a scientific treatise. It will take years to digest what is now being witnessed. The many Saturnian moons hold so much new knowledge yet to be understood. The images only begin to tell the story but each is worth seeing while the experts struggle to explain their meaning. I HIGHLY recommend this book to the astronomer and the lay person alike. It is well worth every penny to share in the spellbinding images contained on nearly every page with a brief text description. This is a display of The Lord of the Rings!
