Self Closing & Latching Gate, Works Great!
In my opinion, this is a very nice gate for the money. We use it as a pet gate for our Lab, from our deck to the lake. The gate can be adjusted to open in either direction and it self closes and latches automatically.

Used as Dog Gate
We have had great success with this gate. We purchased it to keep our elderly dog off our new carpet while still giving him room to roam in part of the house. I was a little concerned with some of the reviews talking about having trouble installing it, especially since we installed it, then decided to move it again (and had already snipped the strap that keeps the gates together). We discovered that if you tightened each side equally (which required going from side to side and back and forth as many times as needed until it was where we wanted it to be), it lined up perfectly. We did proactively purchase separately four wall protectors so that we do not mark our doorway. It does latch automatically when you go through the gate, but if I anticipate multiple trips through the gate with laundry, etc., I can close the gate gently without the latch engaging, and the dog cannot open it if I do it on the correct side. My daughter brought her Alaskan Malamute (huge dog) over, and he gave up trying to knock it down. Success! We wish we had discovered this gate years ago.

Great (Dane) Gate!!!
Where do I start!!! It was super easy to install by just following the simple instructions. No screws necessary but did come with them in case you are installing on stairs. We are using ours as a dog gate to keep our 1 year old Great Dane out of the kitchen. Even with no nuts or bolts it has held him back!!! It is very sturdy as he is about 130lbs and he stands on it begging to come into the kitchen. I’m very impressed with this gate and would definitely recommend it! If it can hold him back it can hold back pretty much anything! Plus it’s really cute and goes great with our black appliances!

Looks Nice and Works Well
The gate was easy to put together with one person although it would have been easier with two. I did end up needing a second person to hold the gate in place while I put it up. Using both of the extension pieces hasn't impacted it's structural integrity at all. It's held up well to my older cat who likes to rub his face over it. It doesn't warp or move along the wall when he does so. My younger cat is able to jump over it easily but the older cat can't.Since we're using this for cats, not a kid, we usually leave it tied open with a ribbon during the day but when we do need to open it, it's easy to do so one-handed. There's an indicator on the gate to show that it's actually latched although it's not really needed. It's easy enough to tell if it's latched without the indicator. As a final added bonus, this just looks nice. It doesn't scream "baby gate"! The black color helps it fit in with the rest of the decor of the house.

Only lasted 6 months from normal usage
6 MONTHS UPDATE: I walked through yesterday and the hinge broke completely. It is now unusable from Normal wear and tear. We didn't beat on it or slam it. Very disappointed. For as much as this costed it should have lasted years, not 6 months. Buy something else.AT FIRST: So, i got this a few weeks ago. I tried to wait a little while to write my review but i am so happy with the gate I had to go ahead and write it. We bought a 12 week pitbull mix pup and i was going so crazy with the potty training and chewing everything i was ready to give up. After one day with a regular sized wood child gate he could jump over it! My cousin who has a million animals said look for metal gate. I got the extra tall and am super impressed. It was easy to assemble by myself. And it has held up well to having 3 kids (10,3,5) hang on it, open, close any thing you can think of. Its too tall for my dog to even think about jumping and it is sturdy enough that it hasn’t been knocked over!!! Easy to open and swings shut by itself. My 3 and 5 year olds cannot open the gate without help. No problems from the older kids though. I only got it for my dog so it is irritating that i have to help them go upstairs every time they want to but the hassle is worth it. It does its job. And does it well.I should mention that I didn’t want to put holes in my wall or banister so i only removed the backing for the stabilizing cup things and stuck them where i needed them and did not drill them into place. It has worked perfect and believe me, with my 3 year old tugging and pulling the gate multiple times per day it hasn’t budged.

Kept My Large Dog Out and Easy to Install
I have a very large dog that had to be put on medication that makes him ravenously hungry. It was a struggle keeping him out of the kitchen garbage. We started by putting heavy things on the lid, then using a bungee cord to keep it closed by drilling a hole in the lid to hook the cord through, but he always found his way in.Ultimately, we decided on a baby gate to keep him out of the kitchen, but needed a tall one as he is a large dog. This was perfect! Just follow the directions carefully to install. Even though it wasn't required to attach all pieces if not being used to block stairs, I recommend it for sturdiness. Pretty easy to use with one hand after some practice. Great gate!

Best baby gate we have tried by far!
We purchased 4 different baby gates for use around the house and this is by far the sturdiest. We use this gate as a tension gate and between this gate and 2 other tension gates this is the only gate our toddler has not knocked over or figured our how to unlatch (decided not to drill into wall except for at the top of stairs with another gate). We have been using this for about 7 months with no issues. The gate also looks nice and does not seem cheap like may other baby gates. Definitely recommended.

Straightforward and easy to set up
I didn't have any problems setting this up with my husband, except if you're not particularly strong, you might want someone with better grip to help tighten the knobs to get the best pressure mount you can. Definitely follow the instructions when they say not to cut the zip tie on the door until the gate is set up properly.I bought this for a puppy who is growing pretty quick. It seems pretty durable and well built, and it's cheaper than many tall and wide gates I've found. I recommend getting some caps with rubber ends for added resistance when pressure mounting. The only downside is I didn't realize this was one of those gates you had to press and pull the button and also lift the gate. It's mildly annoying, but it's an added safety feature and the whole point is to keep a pet or baby safe sooo...

Exceeded expectations
I ordered 2 gates, to block upper and lower stairways in advance of bringing home new kittens. The packages arrived quickly and in good condition. The gates appeared just as per website -- in fact, they looked much better than I had expected. I have dark wood railings & stairs, and the black gates blended perfectly and even looked like a nice addition (but not notably an "add-on"; in other words, they looked as if they could have been an original/intentional part of the staircases. Much nicer than any other child (or pet) gates I've seen in the past -- especially as they don't have to be permanently installed. They also exceeded my expectations for sturdiness and, importantly, they fully served the intended purpose. The gates are (fairly) easy to open and close behind you, quickly and easily. They seem fairly secure, though if I was protecting staircases with children in mind, I would permanently secure to the wall and/or posts, if possible, as I think a firm shove or someone falling against the gate could dislodge it. (Despite the cats' best efforts, they are unable to get through, under or unlatch, but larger animals and certainly children could likely find ways to open -- or land up pushing sufficiently to open the gate).Note: the opening between the rails is narrow enough to protect against a child's head getting stuck -- but, if you have a cat (or kitten), it is a temptation and they can certainly get their heads between the rails -- and get stuck. (We have temporarily blocked the lower rail openings, but hope that can be removed in time.)The only other comment is that you do need a solid wall on one end of the gate and a solid (and large enough) post or wall on the other gate to affix/tension hold it properly. Before purchasing, take a good look at the intended location -- and make sure that there are solid surfaces (at the same height) that will allow for the tension points to lay flat against the wall (or post, pillar, etc.) at both top AND bottom on both sides of the gate. (The top and bottom fix points can be different, as the tension "bars"/"posts" can -- and must be -- adjusted to secure the gate, but if they are too different or at different heights -- it will not be able to be securely placed in that location.)For the price, I think they appear good quality and thus far (1 month in) have served their purpose and are worth the investment -- and, don't look too bad or take away from other decor, design, etc., which is a concern with so many child or pet gates. For me, it was well worth the higher price point.

Don’t waste your money
This gate came all bent and wouldn’t even close. The gate was zip tied closed and when removing zip ties which would have been a great struggle to get it together to zip tie it it literally was 6-8” off from closing and all bent. We had to modify gate for it to be able to close and as a pressure mount gate won’t close even all straightened out as the pressure to hold it in place stops the gate from closing. If you release the pressure it falls down. Worst pressure mount gate I have purchased.

Super impressed
This is a high quality gate we use at the top of our stairs to keep our dog from going to the basement. It's easy to open and swings closed automatically . I'd say it's professional grade. It is strong, sturdy and looks good. Our dog jumps and this gate is high enough to keep him in. It's also very easy to install without damaging the walls (we installed it against a banister). It is more expensive than many of the others, but I wanted a good quality gate and I figured Evenflo, which makes baby products, would deliver. They did. We're very pleased!

Box was heavily damaged and product was missing a ziptie
When I received this baby gate, the box was heavily damaged. I was concerned that the product inside might have been damaged too. I opened the box and removed the gate. It was really difficult to slide out of the box, so I was even more concerned that it may be damaged.I leaned it up against the wall and took a look at it and it looked as though the frame were severely bent. I contacted evenflo about the bent frame to find out if they would ship a replacement since this one was bent. They responded that the frame is supposed to look bent, despite this not being what is in the instructions.I couldn't get the gate to sit right when installing and eventually had to ask a friend to hold the frame such that it didn't look bent while I installed the mounting hardware. Eventually we got it installed, but it was way more difficult. After talking with evenflo customer service again, apparently a ziptie had been forgotten to be installed during the production of my unit.Either way, I was unimpressed with how difficult it was to install and I'm not planning on uninstalling it anytime soon because of how painful it was to install the first time.
