A very good book
I bought this book several years ago - not from Amazon, and have used it time and again, but having just read a review by Coyoteblue(another reviewer of this book here), I had to re-read it because it seems that Coyoteblue has got his facts mixed up. The author - David Woodward doesn't mention in the book, any commercial beekeeping in Spain or England and as far as I know has never kept bees in either country, commercially or not!!! I think Coyoteblue is mixing it up with someone else which makes me doubt the rest of his review. This is a very good book written by an expert and the principles and techniques involved can be successfully used in any country that has bees - New Zealand has areas with far more severe climates than Scotland. I would recommend the book as a good, in depth and easily read text on the subject. The colour illustrations are clear and numerous and the whole thing is very well laid out. It should be on every beekeeper's bookshelf.

I live in Scotland not New Zealand
There are several techniques for Queen rearing and other methods of beekeeping within. Some of these are transferable to the climate of Scotland but some are not. This would be a great book for someone living in New Zealand but not as useful for someone like myself living in Scotland. The writer expands on his English, Spanish, New Zealand commercial beekeeping, writing of the experience & techniques gained whilst making a living being a commercial beekeeper in these countries. While some information is useful it would be better buying an old snelgrove book which has far better information for the bees of the UK.
