Pros -1) It is a real guitar you can play with an amp2) the fret edges are comfortable and smoothCons -1) the guitar is way overpriced: the fg-621 wireless fretlight guitar sells for about $400 USD and has two upgrade options ($100 each) with progressively better pickups known as they "players" upgrade and the "pro" upgrade. I bought the "pro" upgrade for $600 USD and received a guitar that is on par with the most basic entry level guitars sold at chain stores.2) It is a cheap Chinese guitar with abysmal quality control. The "pro" model had neck issues (warped and incorrectly set), there were glue and tool marks at the nut and on the fingerboard. The bridge was not a strat style fulcrum tremolo as expected, it was an incredibly cheap pot-metal fixed bridge.3) i immediately returned it before even trying it out, and the specialist on the phone said i was "picky" and admitted that all of the guitars were "sadly" made in China and were entry level.4) so after i initiated the return process, i decided to try it out since i had it... and it did not even work! The app downloaded beautifully on my Galaxy S8 and ran smoothly. I had no issues connecting the app via bluetooth to the guitar, but (and this is a big but) the fingerboard would not light up! Despite the phone and app telling me they connected to guitar, and telling me the lights were on, they never worked.5) the app has wrong theory and is therefore unreliable. The app seemed cool even if i could not light up the guitar because it shows numerous scale and chord shapes on the fingerboard. But, as i went through familiar shapes, i noticed huge errors. The A major chord/arpeggio showed notes ABC#E, which is an A major(add 9), not an A major. Further, all other scales and appegios in A, inclduing A minor, dominant, minor 7, 9 and more, all showed only the notes AC#E.In all, this guitar is only a great buy for those with an obscene amount of disposable income who want to gamble $400 to $600 on a $100-$200 entry level guitar that (maybe?) lights up. Established guitar players with any standards ay all will be sorely dissapointed.

Poor customer service
I purchased a brand-new FG 621 directly from fretlight.I ordered an extra Pick gaurd pick setI also ordered the katana upgradeThe guitar that I received from them was full of flaws.Set up was atrocious, intonation was completely off, and string height basically laying on the fretboard, trust rod was however set up correctly. They did not include the separate pick guard that I had ordered. The onboard tuning system did not work and would not turn on.I had ordered the optional katana Fret dressing upgrade.I would recommend that you save your money on this, as they do do a appropriate fret level, however do not do the post fret level, crowning and fret dressing, which leaves you with a flat and rough top of frets which leads to roughness and poor intonation. In addition to this the fretboard itself had numerous scratches which were fairly deep,Just a visual inspection of the fret work showed areas of complete roughness.I did communicate this to fret light and they did issue a return packaging postage stamp. After they had the guitar for two days they contacted me and told me that there was nothing wrong with the guitar and at the findings that I mentioned above were normal and acceptable for them. They offered a refund or to return the guitar with me with the appropriate extra pick guard assembly.I told him that they did offer an excellent learning tool and that the LED function an app or very handy for learning but that I thought the quality control and the guitar itself was not a very high quality and that the extra katana fret leveling service needed improvement. They immediately contacted me telling me that they were going to cancel the return and refund the money. So all in all, I do like the concept of the lighted fret board. However make no mistake that you are buying a very budget entry-level guitar that in no way would be your primary instrument but only a learning tool.I would not recommend upgrading for the katana fret leveling service as they only do half the job and you will be left with flat rough feeling frets. I would recommend that you purchase the instrument and have your local Luthier do a quick level and fret dress as well as set up.I actually do fret work and set ups and was able to set up the guitar to play relatively cleanly and buzz free however I did not find the surcharge on the extra fret work acceptable because of the need for re-crown and polish. The hardware on the guitar is very cheap and the tuners would barely hold tune.Again. I do feel it is a worthwhile purchase if you know exactly what you're getting. However I never buy a brand-new fret light product from the manufacture due to my previous interaction with my purchase directly from them.

Do not buy Fretlight or Optek
I purchased a Fretlight, software by Optek, and 2 new Android devices, as specified to use with the Fretlight. After 5 months of trying to get assistance from both Optek and Fretlight, and promises that Optek would fix the software to use on the specific Android meeting the Fretlight specs. Waiting for Optek resolution 5 months, I cannot return the guitar or the 2 Androids. In an email today, Optek told me today that there are over 1200 Androids, and that I should now go buy a IOS instead! Basically, a Mr.Jason Curtis told me to screw off. This is totally unacceptable. I am out over $1,000 in equipment and 5 months of time.
