Great read, excellent insights. Matthew Wood never disappoints and this book is no exception. His knowledge is unparallelled and his sensitivity and depth draws you in. An exceptional book.

I couldn't 'get' Matthew's approach to herbalism in his Earthwise herbals, then I read this and suddenly the penny dropped and I was the student ready to learn.Some may not like the Biblical and other spiritual references but that places the use of herbs in cultural historical contexts so is invaluable.A work of great depth and knowledge.
