As an orthopaedic PA and Athletic Trainer, I have seen multiple ankle braces. I, personally, have a severely weakened ankle due to injuries and sequelae from a brain hemorrhage. I have to wear a supportive brace daily. I have been very impressed with this brace. It provides the needed amount of support for me for daily use and is comfortable.Pros: comfortable; easy to adjust; moderate support; lightweightCons: probably not the best option for acute injuries (in my opinion); would not be as effective for high ankle sprains, in my opinion.Recommended. This is a nice low-profile brace that provides a reasonable amount of support. It may not provide the support of a taller hinged brace (ex. - Donjoy Velocity) but is more supportive than other low-profile braces (ex. - Donjoy Pod)

I'm 6'1 210 pounds, shoe size 13, got a sm/med fits perfect. I didn't get this to prevent injury, I purchased this to stabilize my already injured peroneal tendon. I've limped for 3 weeks while using a compression sleeve with very little increase in stability and only some decrease in pain, unless walking for long distance then I have increased pain, and spikes of pain from uneven ground, and my foot would fall asleep with the compression sleeve. I put this brace on last night for a few hours and could feel some immediate stability and pain decrease, I've now worn it for 12 hrs straight, didn't adjust it, didn't tighten or loosen straps, felt almost no pain even walking up/down stairs, even tripped in a hole today, its amazing how well it works. If you need extra stability to prevent or treat injury I would recommend these

14 year old daughter plays Middle Blocker on a 15U team and we really wanted her to have some anke support. After reading reviews of other braces and the issues others are having with the bottom cross bar breaking I decided to go with these. I'm so glad I did. They have held up very well and after a couple practices she never even noticed she was wearing them they were so comfortable. Even after long tournaments with 10 games in a day she never had any issues with them rubbing or being uncomfortable.The only issue we have had is they started squeaking when she walked. :) I took a little dab of lubricant and it resolved that issue. The squeaking wasn't loud but it was an easy fix so we went ahead and fixed it. Have been using these for about 9 months now.****Update****Have had these for 3 years now playing Volleyball pretty much all year around with Club, USAV, and School ball and they are still going strong. I did buy a 3rd one last year to have on hand in the event one of them broke during a tournament so we wouldn't have to worry about her while we waited on us ordering one but so far we haven't needed it. She plays Middle and on the Pin and she had come down on peoples feet who come under the net and has yet to have an injury. She come down hard on the side of a foot once and she said she was worried but she wasn't hurt and she even admitted if she didn't have an ankle brace on she thinks she would have broken her ankle. Well worth it..

I have ordered both sizes and frankly found these to be a life saver. I personally thought they fit big, even with a lot of swelling. I am having surgery soon on my ankle, but BEFORE they found the tears I used this instead of the walker boot. This was so much more pleasant around the house and felt it supported me and had no worries about my ankle giving away! On that note be careful as the bottom can be slippery on wood floors and tile. That is its only flaw if you consider that a flaw. I couldn't wear it with tennis shoes but did very well in large boots and clogs. I did spend a good amount of time sleeping in this the first couple of weeks without any problems. The velcro is sturdy and I never felt it was too tight or too loose. If you are on your feet a lot then ,this could give extra reassurance, or even peace of mind if you have a weak ankle!

I was skeptical about using these with my skates for roller derby but I was surprisingly pleased! They fit in my skates & I leave them in there since it’s hard to get it in & out. I put my insole above the plastic base to give my heel some cushion. It’s a lot more flexible than it looks and it doesn’t hinder my movements at all. I was an in-line skater before going into roller derby so I love that it gave me that stability that my inline skates did before.I highly recommend this for anyone playing roller derby! We protect our wrists, why not our ankles and on the floor is where the chaos happens hahah!After seeing so many people having ankle injuries, I dove in and spent the money on these supports. No, they’re not cheap but neither is injuring yourself!

After two sprains and trying a 4 different lace up braces the Ultra Zoom brace has allowed my daughter to continue to play volleyball. She has used her brace for about a year and it still works great. It really does conform to her shoe and ankle. She has not had any additional injuries to her braced ankle. The Ultra zoom is much more comfortable than any of the lace-up braces she used (which used to hurt her foot and cut off circulation to her toes). Unfortunately her other ankle wasn't protected and now she has suffered another ankle injury and we just ordered a second Ultra Zoom so both of her ankles will be protected. Of course she works on strengthening her ankles too. But since she plays volleyball year round there isn't much time for proper healing. Ultra Zoom allows her to continue to play and it gives me peace of mind. This brace is easy to use but you should watch a video/carefully read the instructions the first time you use it.

Your ankle will not roll. Gel inside for comfort and custom fit. It's expensive, but does exactly what it says. We tried ace bandages and wraps that tied/velcro around the ankle or foot area. No comparison. Looks bulky in photos. It is not. This prevents injury - not help you heal.

This brace though it looks simple, has the correct ergonomic positioning of the hinge for the ankle joint. Fabulous brace for athletics once the person has rehabbed or is rehabbing the ankle. It is not intended for the 1st week or 2 of a sprain and I wonder if the poor ratings were given by individuals not knowing this information. Suggestion for the company is to provide a clear description for its use (ex. Meant to he worn IN a sneaker, with the bottom piece under the insole). When worn properly, this is an incredible brace! Love it

Anckle roll is my Olympic sport and I win gold every single time.I've twisted my anckle really bad yesterday at work. It's pretty supportive, tho the padding is...almost none. (Bought the one with one strap on the anckle, one on the foot)I DO NOT recommand to wear with work boots(maybe a higher model) as it hurts more.Make sure you do not wear it with expensive shoes. The back of the foot plate is quite large and sharp and it damages the inside everytime you put your shoe on/off.Over all, for an anckle that's already twisted, 10/10 I recommend. I will wear it at work when it's healed to see if it does prevent anckle roll. (I'm the perfect tester, my anckles are terribly weak for some reason)

I rolled my ankle (pronated) while playing basketball. This ankle brace gives the right kind of support and helps to strengthen your ankle as well. I haven't tried to play ball yet, but I have played ping pong with the brace and did not feel restricted by the brace BUT I did feel the support it gave to my ankle. I will be playing ball with the brace tomorrow and am excited to see how it performs.Only one suggestion is to cut the plastic around the heal down a bit as it gets really difficult to get your shoes on and off with the plastic surrounding your heal. I have cut the plastic but still get all the support I need with a more comfortable time taking my shoes on and off! Still a 5 start product though!

Does fit extremely large, I have a size 8 wide foot and the small is almost too big for me. Very awkward to walk in without shoes, I need to wear 24/7 and it is slippery on the bottom. Feels like they need a third piece of velcro between the other two pieces to tighten the brace better at the ankle, it is quite loose in-between. The plastic extends to beside my heel when it doesn't touch my foot at all and gets in the way when trying to put on and take off shoes. Very supportive.

This fits sort of like a hockey skate. If I loosen all the laces on my running shoe I can get it in and laced up. I have walked 12km in this with no discomfort. Foot gets sweaty and you can hear it creak but it is otherwise comfortable. It really gives me a sense of security. I think if my ankle does go over this will either prevent it from bending, just let me fall, or give me enough warning to hopefully catch myself or move a different way. The softer braces are just that. Soft. They really don't give the necessary support.
