I still have my family, for now
As with all universal items, your fitment ease may vary. In my case it dropped in without even working a little hard on it, it came configured for my refrigerator. There was other parts there but, in my case, all I had to do was pull it out of the box, wipe it down, take the old one out, put this one in. A total direct replacement out of the box.The ice maker is apparently set to beast mode, because it seems like you walk away for 30 seconds, and the ice bin is full. The one it replaced was not completely dead but we could outpace it's ability to make ice, this one makes us crumble under it's vast superiority over our ability to compete with emptying that bin. I'm glad it's stuck in the freezer, I would hate to lose my family to the thing that is the most important provider to this household. **I may be exaggerating a slight amount about the 30 seconds part, the rest is accurate though.

Works great!
I woke up the other morning to water on my kitchen floor all around the refrigerator/freezer. I opened the freezer do to water pooling on bottom and leaking into the refrigerator section and out to the floor. Made its way into the basement even. So after unloading the freezer and drying the floor I narrowed down the problem to my ice maker. It wouldn’t stop running water and overflowing into the ice box. I unplugged it and dismounted it from my freezer and the water stopped flowing. I found this ice maker and it said it’s a match to my old model number. Two day shipping and I I talked quickly using the old screw mounts. Two hours later I heard ice dropping into the ice box. It’s been working well ever since. Take away all the running water we’d this was an easy fix.

Be cautious when replacing factory parts with universal parts!
Ice maker was not easy to install. I had to make a couple of modifications to make it work. Fortunately, I am a retired refrigerator technician and was able to make the modifications work. The average person may have trouble. I would recommend getting an exact replacement unless cost is a major factor. I was able to make everything work and tested it for several days. It took about 3 days to fill the bin and seemed to be working just fine. I put it in a G E refer that was 3 yrs. old. Hope it lasts longer than the original.

Makes Ice like a beast!!!
Easy install, makes ice like a beast, way worth the pricevs paying for a repair or getting a new refrigerator.

I plugged it in, attached 2 screws and, it started to make ice cubes again.
This allowed me to keep my 22 year old refrigerator freezer for a while longer.

Noisy and after 6 months no longer works
The icemaker did originally work but it was always very noisy compared to my previous one. It started acting up in the last month and no longer works after only 6 months.
