ITDC 15" Handheld Brass Telescope With Leather Case - Nautical Collector

I ordered this spy glass as a gift for my 8-year old nephew and he LOVED it. The telescope itself is made of shiny brass with a leather base and came inside a well-fitted leather carrying case that I honestly think my nephew loves more than the telescope itself. I did a lot of searching and read many reviews before purchasing this telescope as I wanted something that could conceivably work for my nephew and not just be decorative. So I knew before buying that focus was going to be an issue. It really takes quite a bit of patience to get the telescope focused - you move the four extensions backward & forward to focus and DO NOT turn them. I practiced before I wrapped the gift so that I knew I could help my nephew and then explained the difficulty in a positive way, making it a challenge for him to be motivated to conquer. One note, upon initially opening the telescope, the last length was stuck inside the base. I only noticed because I couldn't see through the glass at all and realized it seemed much shorter than I had anticipated. I had to pull and wiggle to get it free and even then it continues to get stuck sometimes.

Nice scope for the price . It is heavy with good solid brass. I used it at about 100 yard's and it was somewhat clear so that was a good sign. Over all I like it a lot. Would recommend it for anyone who want's to see short distances at object's. Case is all leather and good quality for the price. The strap however is split leather and kind of flimsy. It will probably need replacing if used a lot. Thank's

I got this for my 4 year old daughter thinking she would enjoy looking at things far off. If this is meant for children, it's poorly designed. With patient adjustments, I can get it to where I can see distant objects through it, but now particularly powerfully. But it's hard to see through and hard to focus, and 4 year olds just don't have that much patience. Nor do I.

Needed as a prop for a musical. Perfect. The leather case was a nice add, too!

I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She couldn't get it to work. I wrote to the vendor and received instructions. It still wouldn't work so I sent it back. Because I ordered it early to make sure it would arrive on time, by the time I requested a return, I was told it had been too long and they wouldn't refund anything. I sent it back anyway hoping that they would do the right thing, but they didn't. I never hear from them at all. Do NOT buy this item or anything else from this vendor.

I ordered this as part of a costume. But it is a bit cheap and unlikely to stand up to regular use.If you want a real spy glass, spend the money to get one and don't waste time on this.If you want a toy that is going to break after a few uses, then this is the product for you.

This item is well worth the price! I purchased it to use in a church play and it was perfect!! Great price, great item!

l gave this item (3) three stars only, mainly because the item didn't work (as l was antisipateing) it should say somewhere in the discription, non working, or for display only. the appearence & the case were both beautiful. l would recommend it for display, purposes only, not as a gift to a child.

Ordered a telescope and after I ordered it the picture changed and so did the product didn't not receive the telescope i first ordered. The first one I ordered had a nice box for the case and this telescope is more like a magnifier then a telescope you cant see anything in the distance

Not good as a telescope but it served its purpose as a costume prop. Very solid but strap on case was a bit flimsy.

I ordered these brass telescopes for my grandchildren. We are planning a family trip to the Oregon coast next summer, and these should be quite handy for a bit of whale watching--easier to focus than binoculars, and a handy dandy strap to prevent them from being lost overboard (the telescopes, not the kids!),

My grandson loves this, but until I read other reviews that you slide the sections to focus instead of turning we thought it was broken.

Doesn't work even a little. Leather holder doesn't stay closed or sit right on your shoulder.

Leather case is not up to par or even leather, but the telescope is a good product

Bought it for a colonial day costume prop. Looks good, nice weight. Was sent wrong item initially, but customer service took care of it.
