Lonely Planet Cancun, Cozumel & the Yucatan (Travel Guide)

Didn't find this guide up to the standard I usually associate with LP. I found it was lacking in detail and content that you would normally find in Lonely Planet guides. Trip Advisor was a far better resource when travelling round the Yukatan and Quintana Roo in this instance.Sometimes attractions, towns, information and history just seemed to be missing, in other cases information was incomplete. For example, we visited the Cuzama Cenotes, and following the guides instructions drove past the first turn off and people flagging you down on the road. After our visit we found out via trip advisor that these people were offering a different, possibly better tour.The guide alsonseems to have been written for a US/North American audience, for example, comparing the driving to conditions 'North of the border'. This isn't very helpful if you haven't experienced driving in the US.

I would not agree with all the recommendations we tried (restaurants particularly), but things move on and the book is now a couple of year old. Some enthusiasm seemed misplaced to us, but I guess they are in the business of selling holiday destinations.

Used this book on holiday. Helped us plan our trip. Had a lot of good information about places to visit and eating places. Also has addresses, which really helped. Well worth it if you are travelling around Riviera Maya and the Yucatan. Pictures are good, and maps are useful.

My husband and I bought this for our honeymoon. It was the perfect book to help us plan our trip and work out our must-see sights. It also helped us uncover some activities, such as a cooking class, that others didn't know about.

It was a gift to a friend who was going ether for a holiday. they said it was very useful.

Lonely Planet, enough said really, best guide books, all info I wanted & more - & cheaper on Amazon!
