It is the same if you want this to sleep
Only get down a bit the external sound. Doesn't work if you want sleep without normal noises like a person talking next to you, or a Television in the other room, etc.

using them for woodworking. the cord is nice to put on neck so i don't lose them while working. soft plugs, and comfortable.

Very comfortable!
I've always had trouble with ear plugs. Nothing stays in or is too uncomfortable. These are VERY comfortable and easily adjust to my ears. I volunteer at a hospital and I will suggest that patients use these for all the noise that goes on so they can sleep!
