Focal Point 83431 31-Inch Shell and Bellflower Medallion 31-Inch by 31-Inch by 1 1/2-Inch, Primed White

Looks great and we really like it -- that said, the installation was a bit of a pain. They provide three very cheap plastic drywall anchors with this and three screws that were made of some of the softest metal I have ever seen (the heads stripped out almost immediately). You are supposed to put the three provide sharp plastic pieces into the medallion and press it into the ceiling where you want it to go -- this is supposed to leave indentations in the ceiling where you need to put the drywall anchors. I put emphasis on "supposed to": if you have an already finished ceiling with either stomping, popcorn, or plaster, it doesn't work that well -- especially with a stomped/plastered ceiling, it's just too hard to make indentations. Assuming you do finally get the wall anchors in the correct spots, get the screws adjusted to the correct heights, and then manage to finally rotate the medallion enough to lock it onto them, it still always seems to leave about 1/16 or more gap between the medallion and the ceiling. Additionally it visibly appears to sag in the areas between the screws.So...my advice would be to save yourself a lot of headache and just do it the way I did, which is to liberally coat the back of the medallion with white adhesive caulk, press it to the ceiling, and then take slightly larger cover plate (or just a pre-drilled piece of wood) and screw it into the lighting box with it overlapping the center of the medallion and exerting gentle pressure on it to hold it in place. Then let the caulk dry for about 24 hours. It ends up being a WHOLE lot easier, mounts closer to the ceiling, doesn't sag, and ends up looking better in the long run.If you do decide to mount it using wall anchors, do yourself a favor and go get three better quality wall anchors or molly's and some decently made screws -- the ones that come with it are almost totally useless.Once installed, it looks great and I have no issue with the actual medallion itself -- but the installation concept is sorely lacking.

We purchased three of these medallions for a new home. Fairly straight forward install. From the undersideto the face it is very close to 1 1/2 inch, so you may consider purchasing an extension box to go betweenceiling and face surface where to fixture fits against the medallion. Install is better thought out than mostmedallions. Read directions and take your time. Very striking!

Light weight yet well formed with an ultra smooth ready to paint finish. I bought this to cover damage done when the previous home owner tore out the old medallion and lightening and took it with them...The contractor repainted everything but wasn't asked to fix the scars left on the ceiling. This size is just perfect to cover all the marring and blemishes without being overwhelming in size for a twenty foot tall landing. This size and simple but ornate style is difficult to find anywhere but here on Amazon. I went with a simple hanging light and with this design it's just ornate enough to be beautiful without being over the top. It arrived packed well in styro without the slightest blemish or damage. It has two slip in hidden screw-holes on the backside for mounting, but because of the light weight, we went with using an adhesive instead. Super pleased with this purchase!

I ordered 4 different ceiling medallions from Amazon to see which one would best fit in the ceiling area. This one by far was the best basically because it had enough design but not too much. It came primed but I put an additional 2 coats of white on it, which was very easy to do, to give it a smooth shine. We did not use the attachment pieces that came with the medallion as it was a bit too tricky to deal with on a 20 ft. ceiling. Instead we put glue around the edges and the weight of the foyer light fixture has held it firmly to the ceiling. This product came very well protected in the package....you won't be disappointed with this purchase.

I had to reinforce an electrical box before installing a 50 pound ceiling fan and the hole I cut was huge. Rather than patch the hole and try to get the popcorn to match, I decided to use this medallion. I used Minwax Wiping Stain (matches my cabinetry) to color one ring of flowers. Attached using Power Grab and it worked in seconds. I had to cut the entire center hole open using a hacksaw to fit the fan bracket. Used white latex caulk to to fill in the joint between the medallion and the ceiling fan cover. Looks awesome

When purchasing the Focal Point Shell & Bellflower Medallion recently for our master bedroom, I had a picture in my mind of what I wanted it to look like when it was up. We had just bought a new chandelier that we felt needed the medallion to compliment it. I certainly was not disappointed! After it was painted and attached to the ceiling, it was exactly what I was expected - just beautiful!

This piece was really nice and shows off the fixture we placed in our home.
