Cons:Particle board constructionBottom does not have a veneer face - we mounted it above our couch (for a projector) and so if you look up you can see the ugly particle board. Nothing a little contact paper won't fix though.According to the Parts list, I was short a dowel. But what it doesn't say is that it gives you a couple of extras. So when installing a piece requiring 6 of them, I only put 5 (thinking it would be better to have 5 out of 6 in a spot instead of 2 out of 3). I guess that's why you're supposed to read the instructions beginning to end before starting.Pros :Looks very nice (aside from that bottom piece)I really liked the mounting system - you can't help but get the brackets lined up correctlyPre-Drilled holes of the perfect size for the screws help make up for the particle board construction.Adjustable shelf has cutouts to drop onto the peg so that once in place, it won't accidentally slide forward.Cord access both behind and on top is nice. I have HDMI going through the wall, so the rear cord access was very helpful.Other :It would be nice if the divider between the sections were vented. I use it for a projector, and I have to make sure the projector is far enough away from the edge that it doesn't overhead. I may end up drilling some venting holes.

Overall - A very nice / inexpensive floating entertainment shelf. Putting it together is fairly simple and can be done alone (Instructions recommend 2 people). Sits nicely flush against the wall and has areas to hide cables. Satisfied all the needs I had. I ran all cables from the TV behind the wall into a recessed gang-box. If you marry the bottom gang-box with the Shelf, the wires from the TV will very easily flow right into the box and will never be seen. You end up with a wireless TV / shelf system.Pros- Very Easy to put together- Very Easy to mount on the wall- Feels very sturdy after the final 3 screws are put in- Plenty of room for cables and cable management. There are 3 holes on the piece for cables to come in from the back or bottom and out through the top. The shelves do not take up the entire depth of the unit, so you can hide a power-strip and bunched-wires behind a cable box or other unit. I currently have a cable box, X-Box, and Blue-Ray player in the unit and you cannot see any wires. There is also a center speaker on the top of it with the wires hidden as well.- Shelf height has 3 settings so you can fit a taller piece of equipment if needed.- Side-Shelves are AMAZING. I can place DVD's and Games neatly in the side-shelves and they are basically hidden.Cons- MOST IMPORTANT: STEP 10 OF THE INSTRUCTIONS HAS DAMAGE POTENTIAL. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN HAMMERING PIECES #411 INTO THE A BOARD!!! I read another review that the top can bubble during this step and then I pushed #411 straight through the A-Board. Customer service for South-Shore is AMAZING and they replaced my A-board about a week later!!! REALLY REALLY GREAT CS!!!! But, I recommend gently performing step 10 and making sure you only push piece #411 half-way into board A.- I have a large power-strip inside of the unit. It was difficult to get the circular plug and off-center prong system through the bottom holes while the unit was mounted. Also, most of my cables are long so it was slightly tedious to hid all the cables behind the my cable boxes and other pieces of equipment. After that hard work though, it looks great!- As others stated, it is pressed board wrapped with finish... but it is also not overly expensive so what do you expect?

Okay, so I read many mixed reviews on this product. Some hated it, complained about the instructions, had issues with support, etc. Some reviews I read raved about its ease and lack of issues. Here is my feedback:Pro's: It is huge! It holds a lot of dvd/blu rays. It holds my mega speaker system perfectly, along with our PS3. It could hold another console (like an xbox) if we would add one of the shelves it came with. It looks great mounted on the wall. The directions were NOT HARD...you have got to PAY ATTENTION, and follow along. I recommend reviewing the instructions and looking over the hardware a few times before starting. It will help the disconnect.Con's: It isn't real wood, so if you want something with super high quality, this may not be the product for you. The undersides of both horizontal pieces are not brown, so unless you intend on hanging it low, you will need to address this. We painted our bottom part a deep brown that matched perfectly because we placed it ABOVE our television (we have 3 toddlers that are likely to hang on it/sit on it otherwise). Install requires two people, it is very heavy once put together (well, packaged too of course). We reinforced it on the wall with several lagbolts, and are going to get some fancy shelf support to place underneath just in case, though using the additional lag bolts has been sufficient, we just want to be overconfident that it won't fall off and break all of our systems and TV. That would be really costly!I give it a 5, even though my "Cons" list is lengthy, because I am really happy with it. It took some time for us to install, but there are so few items available at a reasonable price to meet our need, and this product does. It looks great, hides all of our wires, and is securely on our wall. Sometimes things are worth the extra effort, I would qualify this product as being worth it.

This product comes with a 5 year manufacturer warranty so have no fear, this is well worth the money. Extremely easy to assemble and install, and manage cords too after its put up. Although some of the edges are unfinished, they are all unseen unless you are sitting on the ground. I have mine up quite a bit higher so that my toddler cant get in to it and I still dont notice the unfinished edge.I STRONGLY recommend purchasing and installing 3- 4" 'L' (corner) brackets to the wall holding the bottom of the unit, to take some of the weight off the mounting bracket as this unit is quite heavy.When installed as I suggest you cant even see the extra brackets.As an added safety precaution I also used some white glue to make sure the hardware wouldnt let go on me.Admittedly, something went wrong the first time I assembled it and the hardware didnt hold and it fell off the wall. South Shore immediately put together a work order and it was at my door a week later, all the pieces that were damaged in the fall and all the hardware. I wouldve replaced it through Amazon but I wouldve had to pay over $100 in shipping to return the one theyd throw in the garbage. Really glad about the warranty! Love the console!

This is decent item, only complaint is the metal plate that goes on wall (stud) needs to be little longer as i cold only fix 3 holes on my stud.Otherwise easy to assemble and looks neat and i was actually able to successfully hide all my cables behind this shelf for my wallmounted tv with wires hanging, now wires are still not running behind the wall (dry) but hidden neatly behind the unit. Also decent space to keep my subwoofer in it.

Really nice item. The instructions were very clear and assembly was a breeze. Took less than an hour with my daughters help. Cleaver mounting system too. The quality is good and the unit looks great.

This was purchased for my sound system. I removed an old floor cabinet and mounted this unit to the wall. It gave the room a larger feel because it opened the floor space. It also looks great and I was able to use the space above a return air duct that is usually unused space. Very easy to install and I am very happy with my purchase.

Perfect size. Very sturdy. Easy to assemble
