Deluxe 13LP 180gm Vinyl Box Set! Introducing the 'Complete Midnight Oil Vinyl Collection' from Sony Legacy and Sony Music Australia! This definitive Oils' collection includes all of Midnight Oil's 11 classic studio LP's, plus their two 12" EPs on 180gm Vinyl in one complete box. Each vinyl has been remastered from the original tapes by Steve Smart at Studios 301, Sydney and then mastered for Vinyl at Abbey Road Studios, London. The artwork has been painstakingly restored to match the original releases and this deluxe box set includes the original alternative album cover for Capricornia. Midnight Oil is more than just a rock & roll band. From their beginnings as an inner city punk group gigging around Australian pubs in the late 70's they grew into one of Australia's most successful international rock bands in the 80's and 90's. Midnight Oil followed nobody else's rules. They blazed trails, they took stands and they pushed all boundaries. Most importantly, across a quarter of a century this iconic band created a uniquely Australian sound that is captured here in one complete vinyl collection for the very first time. 13LPs, 8hrs 43mins of music!

Midnight Oil - 11LP and 2EP vinyl box set
Before I start this review I must first admit, I am not a life long Midnight Oil fan. In fact, I bought this box set as I heard great things regarding the bands earlier punk direction and thought I would roll the dice and see if those murmurings were true or not.Having now purchased the box set, and having played all 11 albums, I am pleasantly surprised by the lyrical quality and musical depth displayed over the 11 albums, that span 25+ years of the bands musical output. There are a couple of duds - the late 80s pop/rock sound isn't my cup of tea unfortunately, with 'Beds are Burning' quickly being skipped. I was, however, particularly impressed by some of their 1990s/2000s albums - Capricornia and Breathe were real highlights - which are almost impossible to pick up as new vinyl pressings. The box set is nicely packaged, with a sturdy outer case. The vinyls were all 180g - as stated in the description- and the album covers were clean and sturdy. The elephant in the room is of course the price - yes, the box set is quite expensive. For a set that contains 11 albums and 2 EPs - covering 90% of the bands official musical output - is a price tag of £200 reasonable? I guess it all depends on what you are expecting. The albums presented are all authentic reproductions which means you get all 11 official single albums and 2 EPs nicely packaged and contained in a case for your shelf collection. Some people will willingly purchase this item knowing they have a beautiful collection of Midnight Oil albums contained in one entity. Other people will bulk at a price that others no extras, demos, rarities etc.I can honestly say that I am pleased with my purchasing decision. As a collectors piece, the question is always focused on rarity and future selling possibility. I feel that even at the current price, there isn't that much of a gamble at stake as these vinyl box sets are usually created on limited scales, therefore I would expect the value to rise significantly once the product is sold out.

Good Not Great
Good but not great effort. Some of my original pressings have greater dynamics.Quality of the vinyl is good-quiet and flat, but the remastering is a little too polite-?too digital.

Klasse Box
Top!

A Must for Hardcore Oils Fans
I've been an Oils fan for a long, long time (I really discovered them with "Beds Are Burning" just like everyone else in the US, but had already been exposed to "Power and the Passion" thanks to early 80s "modern rock" radio). The rest is history - I think I owned everything featured here at one point (on CD, but not on vinyl), participated in a pre-WWW Compuserve discussion board (anyone remember "Powderworks?") and waited breathlessly for every new release. I was a hardcore fan...not for the politics but for the music. I saw them live back in 1993 and thought that was going to be it when they called it a day back in 2000 and Peter Garrett took a "day job.".Then, in 2017, the once-unimaginable happened: The Oils went on a US reunion tour! I never would have imagined, but it took place...and I saw them again. At the concert I got wind of a vinyl box set on the way, but it wasn't until my birthday a year later when my kids made it a reality for me.This is absolutely a required purchase if you are an Oils fan who also loves vinyl...what could be more perfect? Probably a bit spendy for casual fans but if you made it past "Diesel and Dust" and "Blue Sky Mining" (still fabulous albums, of course, but many never dug any deeper), this is highly recommended. Beautiful packaging, artwork...and dead-quiet pressings."Underwater" on 180G vinyl...wow!

Powerful and passionate
Brilliant collection of Midnight Oils studio recordings from 1978 to 2002. Some of you may be aware that there are more albums released after 2002, they are unfortunately not included. But this is still an amazing boxset worth the price for the amount of music. And such powerful and passionate songs, but more than that, they’re just good old rock’n’roll. But they’re not just your ‘run of the mill’ generic rock band. They have their own brand of rock which sounds like no other.Absolutely recommended.
