The magnet section is 5 1/2 in. and the handle is 9 1/2 in.

What is the Diameter of the magnetic section?

From the page the OD is 7/8" the end of tool is sealed so magnetic particles don't fill the inside of the tube. The actual diameter of the magnet is therefore hidden from view.

How much weight or how big of pieces can this lift?

I use it to pick up handtools & hardware. It's great for drill debris, since retracting the plunger removes the magnet from the end.

Can it pick up any type of material ? Like stainless steel ?

This tool will not pickup non magnetic stainless steel. This tool like all magnets will work for ferrous materials only. Remember that there is magnetic stainless steels and non magnetic stainless steel
