Saved a fortune on this excellent box!
I've been wanting a you view type TV box, but the prices of new, good quality boxes kept them out of reach for me. So I took a chance on a used/returned/carefully checked one; which worked out about 1/3 of the price of a new box. Worth the risk? Absolutely! I'm so pleased with it, it works perfectly. It didn't arrive in original packaging, but the seller states this anyway, and after all, it's the item that matters, not the box. The user manual wasn't present, but the seller had already messaged me to say if I had any difficulties, they would find me an online manual and send it to me. However, the box itself gives you a step by step 'how-to' as you go along with the simple installation. On the surface of my box are two very faint scratches. Again, the seller description mentions there may be a bit of a mark or two on the box. It in no way affects usage or performance.Excellent seller, excellent item, and from my personal experience, I confidently recommend bother seller and item.

What a Zapper
I bought this from Amazon as it was the cheapest I could find and I have to admit, it is a decent box although very small and a bit expensive but that's probably because it's BT and it has the signs of being a Humax product. This does however only have a single tuner with no recording facility. It is a Freeview HD box with catch up TV, 7 day backwards for some channels and 7 day forward for all channels. It relies on an internet connection for it's programme guide and the built in apps which includes BBC iPlayer, ITV player, 4OD, Demand 5, Milkshake plus a few other free ones. Pay TV includes Now TV (movies only) Netflix and Sky Store (movie rentals). Apart from Sky Store which I have never used, it all works perfect but of course, that will depend on your internet connection. The box only has an aeriel input with no output but I used a splitter with no problems. It doesn't matter if you use the box for it's purpose as it has everything on it without the need for a smart TV or even a TV. A moinitor with HDMI input would do the job perfect. It only has HDMI output and no wifi but a powerline fixed that problem. The Freeview HD works perfect with the addition of pause TV for up to 30 mins and you can also delete the channels you don't want. Picture and sound quality is very good and everything works perfect. Overall it is a very good product and it is worth having if you want Freeview HD and On Demand all in one small box.

Decent product - could be a little cheaper
The product was ordered and received within 2 days. It was brand new and I have had no issues setting it up. Too early to give it 5 stars completely but if you're looking for something cheap, reliable, easy to use and not to record programmes, then this is a no-brainer. The brand is trustworthy which is why I went for it.Only other comment is I think it could have been a little cheaper than it's £49.99 price tag but this is a minor point.

Return To Sender!
With a name like BT attached to it, I was expecting a quality, hassle free purchase. I installed it Friday and today Sunday, have initiated the refund process. The batteries supplied were dead and the remote was not fully functional so the omens weren't good but I looked passed that. What I can't put up with is having to unplug and reset the box after prolonged periods of non use. The picture just freezes, the box blocks and pushing on/off, back, channel up/down on the remote yields nothing. Absolute rubbish. Going back.

As a you view basic box it's fine especially at this price but Youview is a bit limited since you are stuck with poor apps.
The supplier was fine. comments relate to the BT YOUVIEW box.I had a specific requirement : can I connect a youview box in a room which has no TV aerial cable but has very good internet. I'm looking for a box which if it does not find an aerial service, switches to use the live TV streaming functionality for each UK TV channel. I don't need it automatically to switch, I am fine being able to use an app.Answer : with exception of BBC, it doesn't work. The youview box uses apps written by each tv station, so it's youview box versions of "ITV player" and "All 4". These don't have a live streaming (ie what's on now) function, giving you selected highlights only. The BBC iPlayer does allow live stations. So it's a halfway house. Also when you first connect the box, you need to set it up with an aerial so it can figure out where in the UK you are. In terms of regular youview functionsz, since this BT box has no recorder you can't record. So in turn, if you already have a smart tv, you'll already have most of the functionality : you'll have a programmer guide, you'll probably have BBC iPlayer buried somewhere, you'll probably have a netflix or Amazon video app. So at £48 it's decent value but not worth a great deal more. I did buy a Q android box which does much the same - as comparison, the BT YOUVIEW box is much easier to use with the remote, and the TV functionality is much better combined with the EPG and the channel apps, but if course unlike the android boxes you're stuck with the bt youview apps which are a bit limited.
