the head of the drum is a bit thin but it has not broke yet it may look more fragile than it is but I won't be banging to hard on this drum

Good for indoor use. I used one outdoors for a weekend and the temperature fluctuations wrecked the tension of the head. Head is real (goat?)skin, not synthetic, which is surprising for the price. The drum came with a wooden beater.

The drum is a great product at first but with in a week the rivits started to come out, then leading to the animal hide to start going flat.

I ordered two of these -- one for me and one for a friend -- because they are such a great price for a large drum. The order I received contained one 12-inch drum and one 8-inch drum. The 12-inch drum sounds great! Very deep and resonant using the included mallet. It's definitely a keeper. I'm trying to decide whether to keep the 8-inch. It sounds a bit tinny, but then it's a small drum, and it might be nice to have two distinctly different sounds when drumming with another person. Oddly, the 8-inch drum is more expensive than the 12-inch, so maybe I should keep it.

I purchased this item at the end of June and then left for summer vacation four days later. I returned home after two months to find that my brand-new drum was broken. The canvas has ripped around the rivets and popped off around half of the drum. It may have been used to two or three times for a matter of minutes. I am now outside the return window and very disappointed at the quality of the drum and my options to have it replaced.

So far, so good! Great sound, lovely weight for long sessions. I moisturized with coconut oil on both sides and left it to dry overnight. Likely to wrap the beater with a leather skin to prolong drum life.

Unfortunately the hide became separated from the frame soon after the purchase - and not while it was being played, but rather while it was sitting in the box. Only had a chance to play this (lightly) a couple of times before it came apart.
