This one actually solders properly
Made the mistake of buying a 175w soldering gun to do some automotive wiring. Went in the bin. Same style and design as the Weller. Slow to heat, some dry joints. Purchased the Weller - works beautifully, great joints, quick to heat up, quick to join wires to terminals etc. Much less melt back of the insulation than a slower iron.

Good soldering iron
Heats up quickly works well for larger electrical solder joints.Works a lot better than similar none weller soldering guns I have tried.Gets through soldering tips quickly but that is normal for this type of soldering iron.

good stuff
the tips make me think that this is not designed for fine soldering and needed something universal. but after using it once i fell in love and I will keep it. it solders better than anything i ve ever seen before and my father is a professional electrician

Works, but not very impressive
I'm a little disappointing with this soldering gun. It does work, more or less, but the heat output is somewhat underwhelming for an iron that's rated at 100W. It certainly does have more heat output than the 40W soldering station I normally use, but not that much more. It works for regular soldering jobs and for joining cables but it still struggles on larger jobs or PCB with large ground planes, and especially with the larger tips can take quite a long time (20-30 seconds) to heat up fully. Given that the main appeal of these guns type soldering irons is meant to be a rapid heat-up and high output I'm not that happy with the performance of this one.

Bad quality
Absolutely awful product, it broke the second it was plugged in. Bad quality, badly made, impossible to get through customer service....do not buy!

great soldering gun!
I had one of these in the late 1960's which I used regularly until around 1975 for soldering, plastic welding and smoothing. Loved it then so I am pleased to have another. Like being reunited with an old friend after > 40 years. And it works just as well as it did back then. Fine for lead free solder (I was worried that it might not be OK - I have had to lose a couple of other soldering irons when things changed...)

At last, a solder gun that works
It works, and it keeps on working, unlike previous ones I have had. Very easy to use, quite enough heat where you need it even for 6mm2 wires, and good for delicate work too. Anything else is a waste of time and money.
