Elegant Desk Embosser - Chrome

This embosser is okay. Communication with the seller was suboptimal and resulted in an imperfect embossing plate, although the seller was quick to rectify. You have to push the lever really hard to create an adequate embossing, which works well on thin envelopes and not well on thicker, nicer stationery. I'm overall pretty disappointed, especially considering the $40+ price for this embosser. The device itself is sturdy, nice-looking, and well-made, but I have not been impressed with the embossing itself. I'd probably prefer a inked stamp at this point!

The ProductA solid product with good to great results. Even for plates that have smaller lettering (close to 10pt), it makes very readable marks. The press itself is pretty heavy and looks to be well constructed. Use on a flat surface for best results.Two words of warning:(1) Consider where you'll be applying your mark and adjust the orientation of the plate according. If you're thinking about stamping book pages (e.g. with the "From the library of..." plate), the default orientation will restrict you to the lower portion of the pages. If you want the mark in the upper half of a tall page, you'll need to have the plate made "upside down" as to accommodate the not-very-deep "mouth" of the press.(2) While you can order new plates for a new embossed design, the press used for square/rectangular plates is not compatible with press that accommodates round plates, or least that's what we were told. We now have both and they do seem to be compatible, but your mileage may vary. This bit of confusion resulted in us having to go back and forth with StampXpress, which leads us to...The ServiceOrdering something custom through Amazon, in general, is less than ideal. As a result, we had a small hiccup with our first plate, and didn't get exactly what we wanted. StampXpress, however, was quick to respond and corrected the issue. We ended up very happy customers.

I was really disappointed with this embosser. We bought it as a return address alternative and it does not imprint even on standard envelopes. We had multiple notes to send and had to delay mailing them a week so we could order and recieve a custom return address ink stamp prior to mailing. The bottom right corner was particularly weak with an imprint--almost illegible. Perhaps this could be good for a single sheet of standard paper but certainly not for envelopes.

I'm a firm believer in that reviews are written by unhappy and unsatisfied people. When you got home from a nice dinner, you didn't race to the computer with joy to write a beautiful review for your local establishment, so I just want to start out by saying that I am obviously not the latter. I ordered the embossers after reading the reviews and wondering just how hard could it be to get it right?! I was sadly mistaken. I ordered this as a gift and thank goodness I ordered it two months in advance! I got the 1st order (please keep count) relatively fast but it was wrong, I order black, not silver. When I called the number, the girl answering wasn't very pleasant and told me to keep the plates and that they would send me out the new 'black' embossers. After about two weeks I emailed the girl about when it was sent out and she sent me the UPS receipt for the first one I ordered. Very on top of things. When I finally did receive the 2nd order...(AUGH!) They were black all right, but about 2 inches smaller than the ones I ordered, so the plates she told me to keep didn't even fit because they were for the wrong one! I called her and she told me that they would start ALL OVER! and resend me everything. I made her assure me that they would be for the original size that I ordered, in black and that the plates would fit. She assured me everything would be fine. I emailed her a few days ago, again wondering where the embossers might be and got a confirmation that they would be arriving today....they did...(3rd Order) and I am here to inform you that they plates are right, they are in the color black like I had originally ordered yet they are the mini size. Just peachy. I'm seriously exhausted in dealing with her/them. I did email her today telling her that I was slightly disappointed. Her email back said that she's sorry but they black ones are smaller now, manufacturer of course. Kind of wish she would have told me that before, I probably would have kept the silver ones. And now I don't have any more time to be messing around with it since the birthday is coming up soon. If you're interested in purchasing, please make sure you have months to wait to make sure it's right. But I do have to say on a lighter note. The embosser is a very good quality and it embosses nicely. Worth the hassle again though... probably not.

I I had received an Amazon gift card for my birthday and spent a lot of time thinking about what I woud like to purchase for myself as a birthday gift! I decided I wanted an embosser since I own so many books and really love reading! I perused all of the ones available on Amazon and read the reviews as I wanted to be certain I purchased the right one for me. I will say the customer service was excellent and they were so prompt in their e-mail responses, I was very impressed. I do love the design and they were more than willing to work with me on customizing my stamp plate at no extra charge, which I thought was wonderful. The product arrived and it is really quite beautiful! My only complaint is that it is somewhat difficult to use and I am not sure that is a design flaw but the nature of trying to stamp a book! Overall, I would recommend this purchase. It is gorgeous and the embossing is very very cool!

Bought this for my wedding invitations.The customer service was great, but the product is just okay. The piece with our address is rubber and takes some serious arm work to get a good emboss. Doing 150 invitations was a challenge and we wasted quite a few envelopes because the address was only half embossed. It's good for use daily maybe but not doing invitations. Go with an ink stamp.
