Great Quality Camera From Amcrest Once Again!!!
I currently have this camera installed and connected via WiFi. It does allow you to connect using an ethernet cable for data connection and power, however, I have not yet connected it via this method as there has not been a need to. The wifi connection a rock solid stable and the camera delay is probably about a second or two from when the events happen to the time it hits your screen! I have this installed in front side of the house overlooking the entrance into my property. I live on a corner house with a school down the block. There is a lot of traffic from the school area down the road that the motion sensitivity kept activating my camera to record very frequently in the morning during school drop off time and afterwards during pick up times. I have record of every vehicle that passed in front of the house. The distance from the road to the camera is about 35 feet to the middle of the road. So as far as sensitivity and if you want to know if this camera will pick up motion, the answer is yes. In fact, the sensitivity is at the default setting of 3 and I needed to use the "Set Regions" setting to have my camera trigger recording activation when someone parked in front of my house or walked onto my property. It has worked very well and has stopped the frequent recording of the cars on the road that pass in front of my house. The other nice thing about this camera is that you can set it to continuously record video to the SD card. I have installed a 64gb SD card and I have a 2.5 days history of continuous recording. It can handle a 256gb SD card but I have yet to install one. With my rough calculations, it may give you a 10 day continuous recording history with a 256gb. The playback is pretty fast when needing to review the videos. This is pretty good for a wifi camera. The other brand wifi cameras that I have installed buffers and sometimes times out. I am not sure if the dual antennas on this thing helps or has anything to do with it, but I can say that it works great! It is also pretty easy to turn on the motion detection notifications so that you can get alerts on your phone when you are away. I haven't really messed with the group features of the app for this camera but it is pretty straight forward and easy to do from the app.The nigh vision on this camera is also pretty amazing. Living on a corner lot has its advantages of having a streetlight pretty close with a well lit area. However, the streetlight has been out for a couple of days and the dark street lights up very well with the night vision of this camera. The microphone on this camera is pretty sensitive and you can pick up very distinct sounds from the environment. It goes pretty good with the video to hear what is going on in the video when something happens. The only two features that I would like is to have a fast speed playback to be able to go through video sections when reviewing them, and a solar setup with battery backup/recharge. The playback is in real time and you will need to skip through manually and hopefully find what you are looking for. This is especially true when you want to see videos from a continuous recording session. Having the fast playback feature will allow you to quickly see the video and is one feature that I miss on this camera that other competitors have. Having a solar power setup will allow you to not restrict your installation to near power supply for wifi setup.Overall, if you are looking for a great camera that uses the 2.4ghz wifi signal and is rock solid stable, this camera is the one that you want to get. The cloud feature is also pretty neat but it is not necessary. Amcrest gives you a 1 year free for 3 days of recordings. I am planning of purchasing more in the near future to replace my current cameras that I have set up.

Amcrest Camera: High end features, Budget friendly Price
The camera quality of the Amcrest meets the expectations, delivering the promised performance. It features a zoom function, although it's not optical and the more you use the digital zoom, the grainier the picture becomes. I found setting it up on my Wi-Fi to be a straightforward process, and only take a few minutes. The customer support provided by Amcrest is commendable. I purchased a used camera that was missing some hardware and linked to someone else's email. I contacted Amcrest through their support website and the issue was resolved promptly. The camera was unlocked within a few hours and the replacement hardware arrived a few days later. All they required was my Amazon invoice information. The setup process is incredibly user-friendly – scan the QR code and follow the instructions to have the camera up and running in minutes. It's also easy to customize your settings. The camera and its accompanying app do not require a monthly fee. You can choose to store your recordings on the cloud for a fee, or locally on an SD card at no extra cost. I opted for the latter. The motion tracking works effectively, although it can be overly sensitive in certain conditions such as rain, causing frequent alerts. But changing the sensitivity down helpedThe notification customization for motion is a feature I truly appreciate. I set mine to alert me when it detects motion from 10pm to 6am, while still recording all motion throughout the day. Notifications are promptly delivered to my phone, allowing me to promptly see what caused the alert. In terms of rating, I would give:Price: 5/5Ease of Use: 5/5Features: 4/5Software: 3/5Customer Support: 5/5For the average homeowner, this camera provides great value for money

Much improved WiFi connectivity
I've been using wireless IP cameras from Amcrest since 2015. Their older models suffered from significant WiFi connectivity issues that made the cameras unreliable, especially if there was a wall between the camera and the nearest WiFi AP, which is true for pretty much all outdoor cameras. Even though my site survey showed a strong signal at the locations where these cameras were installed (I am running an Orbi system with several satellites throughout my home), they still struggled to stay connected. I've been able to work around this drawback by connecting the camera's Ethernet port to a dedicated WiFi bridge or one of the LAN ports on my Orbi satellites. This of course negates their usefulness as WiFi cameras.Having said that, I was very pleasantly surprised by how well this newer model (ASH22-W) stays connected to my home WiFi and how little latency is present in the live stream! Even in my attic the camera has a solid connection. I was so impressed actually, that I purchased a few more to replace some of my older models. I really hope that Amcrest continues this improvement with future models (Amcrest, please take note.)I also love that this camera supports a large 256GB MicroSD card and continuous recording (I highly recommend you use a high endurance MicroSD card for this purpose). Its dependency on the Cloud was disappointing, but I knew this going in and it seems unavoidable with Amcrest nowadays, as this appears to be the direction they are going for all new outdoor cameras. At least once the camera has been added to my Amcrest NVR, I can still record/view its RTSP stream locally, even during a Cloud outage.Adding the camera to my Amcrest account using their Smart Home iOS app was a breeze, so kudos for this improvement over previous models. Once added, it was trivial to add the camera to my Amcrest NVR.This newer model has a plastic casing, which some may consider a step down from previous models, which had metal casings. However, the build quality still feels solid and I do like the smaller overall footprint and lighter weight. This model allows for tool-free adjustment of its rotation/angle and still feels very snug. This is preferred in some cases where one had to use a 90° screw driver in tight corners. The microphone provides clear audio and is a nice addition, as many of their older outdoor cameras did not include this feature. Sure, a speaker for two-way audio could be nice, but not that useful for my purposes. The nighttime vision is comparable to their older outdoor models, which is say it's very good. I do wish this model had a sun visor like their older models, but so far it hasn't been a major issue when the camera is in direct sunlight. The daytime video quality is very good and the 1080p resolution is very clear.Overall, I am very pleased with this camera! It offers a lot of features for the dollar, which makes it a solid value. I may give their 2K (4MP) model a try to see if it is just as good. But this model is a solid winner in my book, despite its dependency on their Cloud.

Great picture, but has a a huge down side: Motion detection
The good: Picture quality is wonderful for a 1080p camera. You can record 1080p at 30 fps. You can jack the bit rate all the way up to 6000. Night vision is also great. The IR LEDs do a good job lighting up the night. The bad: Motion detection. Even with motion detection's, Ai set to detect humans only and sensitivity set to its lowest it gets way too many false alarms. During the daytime, motion detection is actually quite good. Now here is the camera's During the night it easily gets triggered by streetcars light beams, leaves, flying bugs, wind, rain, you name it. Funny thing is that it's Ai detects all those as "human". Basically, it becomes useless as it constantly alerts you about nothing. A funny thing about its motion detection is that every morning and evening it gets triggered by itself because the device switches between night mode and day mode. It's very own IR LEDs are a human to this camera!. I have been working with Amcrest on trying to fix these problems. But I am afraid all the factory resets in the world are going to help this camera. What it needs is a major firmware update. They have not released one since last October. But there is a silver lining though. If you want this camera, you can get it cheaper {and with even more features} than what Amcrest is sealing it for. Buy it directly from the maker...Imou! Their version is a "2K Security Camera Outdoor IP67 Surveillance Camera with Full Color Night Vision."https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08RD1MXD4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2HSDO00LV4UA9&psc=1 Or better yet you can get the Imou camera that has the exact specs for about $10 less!https://www.amazon.com/Imou-Security-Outdoor-Detection-Weatherproof/dp/B08RD33VD1?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1That's right you get 2k video instead of 1080, and you get color night vision for about the same price as the Amcrest version. Also, Imou has put out much more recent firmware updates. I checked their website! I cannot say if their firmware updates fix these problems or not. But at least they are releasing them trying to fix problems! To sum all this up, stay far away from this camera! Or if you are feeling adventurous buy the Imou version! I'm ordering me the Eufy Security Outdoor Cam Pro to replace this camera! It is more expensive but does not have any false alarms when its AI is set to person detection!

Good wireless camera specs for the price; surprisingly easy to setup.
Normally, I would recommend only getting Power over Ethernet (PoE) cameras because they support the highest resolution and they don’t saturate the WiFi network. However, I needed a camera to place in a relative’s barn and I was not about to burry Ethernet cable for it.The specs on this wireless camera are good for the price. The 1080p resolution is on the higher end for wireless cameras these days. 30fps is a must have because moving object are simply too blurry otherwise. The night vision is pretty good as well. This is my second camera with a build in microphone and while it’s not recording studio quality, it is actually pretty good and provides the ability to listen and see what is going on.This camera is part of the “Smart Home” Amcrest line. It is much easier to setup then the standard IP cameras, and is setup similarly to how those Doorbell cameras are setup. Open an app on the phone, scan QR code, connect to the camera’s hotspot, set password, and you are done. The app is easy to use and I don't anticipate any issues teaching my less tech-savy relatives how to use it. Through the app, you can live stream video or play back saved events from anywhere with an internet connection. You set the motion detection zones and the sensitivity, and the camera will alert your phone instantly when an event occurs. You can record just events or continuously to the camera’s SD card, the cloud, or an NVR. The SD card is probably the easiest way to record and will likely meet the needs of most people.I added some photos prior to installing it in its final destination so you get an idea of the picture quality during the day and at night. Good luck with your home surveillance projects!
