We've tried lots of different STEM/STEAM type building kits, even an "Advent Calendar" (a new kit every day of December, "building up" to Christmas Day) STEM kit. Each of those kits was constructed of laser-cut wood, and was awesome, BUT... the durability and re-usability of these building-block style STEM learning kits is a definite benefit! After teaching your kids using these kits, watch their creativity blossom as they imagine, and build, their own new creations!

This is great learning and great fun and all, but is also frustrating when you go to put batteries into the 3 battery compartment and realize there is no connection across 2 of the batteries and no power will be provided for your project. This small, inexpensive missing piece made the entire kit useless to us. It can't function without power. Minus one star, because it made my daughter cry after working for 45 minutes and find out nothing will work.I used this as an extra teaching opportunity. We went to my junk drawer and I cut out a small strip of metal and soldered a spring to one end and fixed it inside the battery compartment where one should have already been. I don't know who else would have the parts or know-how to do this, but I've got the skill and had some parts, so I taught her how to improvise and repair. We soon had everything going.This kit can definitely provide a lot of great learning fun, but only if you get one with all the parts in tact. Quality Control messed up on this one. I'm taking off 2 stars for them sending us something that was useless until I put in my own parts, time, effort, and know-how to fix what the manufacturer missed. Honestly, for the tears it cost my daughter, it should be more, but I imagine now that it's fixed, and since it was the ONLY mistake I've thus far discovered (and I've searched for more) and since there is a lot of future fun to be had, we'll only deduct the 2 stars.Now on to the instructions. The instructions for each of the projects are difficult to decipher at times. The poorly illustrated black and white is awful. For the price of this kit, they could have put in full color photos of the steps to produce each one. Some of the pictures appear to be smudged and are difficult to see what's going on.There is a lot of variety, though, and beyond the instructions which show how to assemble a fairly large number of items, you can use your imagination and build whatever your heart desires.I love this kit, overall. It was disappointing that the connections weren't there in the 3 battery box, but I'm thankful I could repair it. Otherwise, it would have needed to be returned or exchanged. Is knocking off 2 stars fair? It made my daughter cry. Only taking off 2 stars was being generous.Great product, though. I'd recommend, since there are free returns and an easy exchange if there is a problem with a part. Okay, okay, I've rethought it. I'll add one star back, because the product is good enough to recommend it should be at least 4 stars, but I'm still leaving off one star for my girl's tears.

I chose this kit for hosting a homeschool STEM activity at my home. The kids LOVED this kit and stayed engaged for hours! The kit is intuitive and easy for children to use and it inspires collaborative effort and creativity as well as critical thinking and problem solving. Such a great deal for what is included. Highly recommended!

Cute stem set. Good for play.

I got this 434-piece STEM building set as a gift for my 7 year old daughter to stimulate her technical mind and promote creativity.We set about working together to build one of the robot models shown in the book. The instructions are clear for the most part, but be prepared to stumble a bit and invest some time.Once we got to the end it was time to power up our robot. We inserted the 3 AA batteries, flipped the switch and...nothing. We made sure all our wiring was correct. So we decided to try the 2 battery compartment. It worked but did not offer enough power. Needless to say, my daughter was disappointed. The kit itself appears to be of decent quality, but this one small issue prevents it from being the big hit I'd hoped it would be.

I am actually keeping this one for my son gift from Easter bunny 🐰 but I am so excited for us both to be able to build robots!

My son is very inquisitive and will be getting this as a gift soon. The variety of things that can be built should help keep him busy (and off of screens) for a while. We had a similar toy a while back but it could only make two things, so this one is very appealing. Will update with pictures when I can!

The media could not be loaded. These types of STEAM kits are not my love language, but I do like to challenge myself. I am ‘direction challenged’ so I really appreciated the in color direction booklet that comes with this. I mainly got this because of the colorful plastic parts that I hoped would be of a good quality. YES , they really are!I have tried other kits that are made of wood and found them inferior in every way to this kit. I love that this has a sturdy segmented tray inside the box to hold all of the different shaped parts. Such a great idea!!I like to lay all the need parts out on a rimmed baking tray so nothing rolls off and gets lost. I did the ‘Worm-Bot’ as it seemed to be the easiest model to do. I had success, until it stopped working after about 10 seconds. I changed out the brad new AA batteries (not included) and tried again. Hmmmm. I fiddled with the white connector pice that join the battery pack and the motor and after a bit that seemed to work and I got it working again.I took off 1 star because it seems that that connection should have better quality control. Everything else I loved, and THANK YOU for the good directions on this!! All the pieces are labeled in the book with the exception of the rubber bands. You do need your own tiny screwdriver to access the battery compartment and I wish they had included more sticky dots that hold the battery pack and motor together. Different models use different pieces of equipment and I feel that if you made all of these and then some of your own creations, you are going to run out of adhesive.Can’t wait to do this with a model loving 7 year old. I am glad that I did a practice model and taped the bags back up so he can empty them into the segmented tray as that is part of the fun!I would purchase this again.
