Excellent Hijiki Seaweed.
As someone who cooks a LOT of Japanese food, I am always looking for various products not readily available in local stores, so this Hijiki was nice to find on Amazon. The company that distributes the product is a trusted brand and I buy many products from them both on Amazon and elsewhere. This seaweed expands nicely in water and is the proper consistency for use in our recipes. The California Warning about arsenic levels is specious. They find almost everything is about to kill you! In reality, the level of potential arsenic in this product in negligible and there are no instances of illness from the product that I have ever seen or heard of. It's safe!A little pricey here, but needed, so I'll continue to buy for the convenience of doorstop delivery. Highly recommended for your Asian culinary masterpieces!

First time user
I bought this to make a recipe from Just One Cookbook......:Japanese style Fried Rice. I had never used or seen hijike seaweed before. The dish was delicious; very popular at the pot luck I took it to and my Japanese spouse was surprised and pleased with it.

Good seller, less good iziki
I haven't cooked with iziki in a long time. But I used it a lot when I was a chef in a health food restaurant decades ago. Now that I'm riding out the pandemic cooking healthful food, I'm back to cooking with my old ingredients. Last night I made a daikon-leek-iziki dish and the taste was ok but the iziki was a real disappointment. These skimpy iziki "flakes" are barely iziki at all. I wouldn't buy this product again.

Low quality, poor flavor
Low quality. This is mostly broken up and flattened out so it doesnt have the same flavor and mouth feel as premium Hijiki. Sea vegetables should taste of the sea, like chlorophyl with a slight iodine flavor with sea salt. This tasted flat and was somewhat mushy.

Four stars
This is not a sheet product. It is shredded, dehydrated seaweed with the consistency of chewing tobacco. Another user pointed out that this is what Hijiki is supposed to be. While I purchased in error, I have to say it is good and allowed me to branch out of my traditional uses for sheets!

I feel silly ordering something like this on Amazon when I have an Asian grocery ...
I feel silly ordering something like this on Amazon when I have an Asian grocery on the corner. However, you can't beat the price for this quality seaweed. I paid just over $6, while the health food store in town is charging $14 for a different brand. Hijiki has a wonderful texture, and is something I like to add to soups, salads, noodles, stirfries, and more. The iodine is especially good for those of us with low thyroid function.

My grandmother lived to be 102...
My Japanese grandmother swore by the benefits of seaweed and she lived to bee 102. Hijiki I believe is a brown seaweed so different nutrients than nori sheets. Just thro w in water to hydrate. Not much flavor so you can add it to any soup or salad or vegetable dish, tuna salad ... I think this is a good price.

Waste of money
Not what I expected. Don't like the taste or texture. Had that warning label of cancer.
