I do a ton of backwoods minimalist camping. And outdoor adventure filming. I often go in winter. Sub zero °F temperatures often. For 3 season use there are many great options for water filtration. That gets quite more limited as you get into cold temperatures. If that filter freezes. It's now unreliable. If I've ever brought a filter in winter... I've mostly carried a small filter. But it's hollow tube only. And it's a rather slow flow rate. But. It was small enough it could be kept in an inside pocket comfortably. To keep it from freezing. This whole filter pump is great for 3 season use. Very fast flow rate. Very simple to use and fill containers. And I love how it has the activated carbon portion to the filter. In winter...The whole unit COULD be carried in an inside jacket pocket. But it's really at the limit... any larger and it would be just too uncomfortable. I was thinking however. It's very easy to remove the filter unit. And that by itself is roughly the same size as my small hollow tube filter. This winter I will try it in below freezing conditions. As long as the leftover water in the pump does not freeze up... the filter could be extracted immedatly after use. And I'll see if I can shake or clear all water from the pump. If so it will make a great option for a filter in winter.I hope this helps. And I think for the money. It's absolutly a great buy.

This came with a filter (with built-in compass) inside a storage case, and a collapsible water bottle. It also came with a filter wrench to aid in opening the unit. The instructions indicate a filtration rate of 300 ml/min, which is not the same as the listing (which indicated 500 ml/min), so prepare to spend a bit more time pumping. It's convenient to use for one or two people if a water source is available (like a stream or non-brackish lake) though it's not designed to be used for more heavily contaminated water or near salt water. It would also be useful during an emergency situation such as when a boil-water advisory is in effect during a low-pressure situation in an urban area. While the filter is replaceable the plastic housing may not last long enough (nor is the filter expensive) enough to worry about that (since it's rated for over 4,000 liters of filtration).

We have a lot of EDC equipment and camping equipment for all our outdoor adventures safely stored away. Including some straw-filters and some kettle-filters.This however, is a little different.You actually have a hand pump, essentially combined with what is essentially a straw filter, along with a number of other components, so that you can quickly and effeciently fill several containers very quickly indeed, from any fresh water source.I mean, this is filtered too 99.99% effectiveness. thats pretty awesome.Of course, the big downside is that this filter is a little more bulky that your pocket straw-filter.If you have the space to carry this set, the price of this highly effective filter set, make this set highly viable. ooooh. And you get a compass! LOL!

We bought this to take camping with us. Normally we bring 1 or 2 5 gallon jugs of water with us. One time we ran out of that water and had nothing to filter our water. Now we have this. It works fine for a manual pump and the filters look like they will last awhile. The bag fits MOST of the stuff but not the collapsible water bottle. Wish the bag would hold that as well, but you can't have everything. Definitely worth the cost to have water security.

Nice little package. Great for backpacking or for EDC in your vehicles emergency prep kit. Easy to use, functional. I like them better than the filter straws as I can fill bottles and just drink without having to suck on a filter straw for every sip.Very nice, happy with product.

This is a great kit. Ive been looking for something like this for a while now. This comes with everything you need to filter water in a emergency. The pump works flawlessly. Plenty of hose is included as well as pre-filters and a float. Also a collapsible bottle. Great deal for the price. I would recommend only one thing. Make the storage bag a little bigger. I really had to cram it all in there. It does fit but the bag is stressed to the max. Otherwise this kit is awesome.

I bought this water filter because I hate the taste of iodine tabs when I'm out on the trail. I really like how light this filter is and its Efficiency. Overall I'm happy with the purchase, the water tastes great and it was significantly cheaper than other alternatives. My one concern is how I'm going to find a replacement filter but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

This is a great price on a portable water filter. I'm not exactly a prepper, but it's foolish to not be at least a little prepared for bad water, long term power outages (I live near a river so water is available) or other short term distruptions in public services.I feel a portable, manual, water filter is just a good idea to have around and hope I don't have to use it.This one is a great price, easy to use, effective, and portable.Really appreciate the overall quality and price of this filter.
