Nice idea... Just don't work
I bought these knives especially to spread butter. No way. Absolutely no way. If the butter is cold, the butter flattens but don't get in the little holes. If the butter is warm it just goes everywhere (but in the little holes)... And believe me, i tried and retried. Absolutely pointless device.

Am I doing it wrong?
I read that this type of knife was great for cold butter but I was disappointed with how it worked. No matter how it was angled, it never produced a decent amount of curls, or else pushed a lot of butter in front of it. The larger curling hole at the tip works well, but I don't have much use for that. About the only other good thing to say is that the product is sturdy, a good size for its purpose, and there are two of them.

Worth the drawer space?
I got uneven results. This knife worked best with European-style butters that weren’t right out of the fridge. I got the worst results with very cold American-style butters. As this was purchased to facilitate my 13 year old making grilled cheese sandwiches without ripping the bread, I’m not sure I want to switch from Lucerne to Kerrygold. That said, it’s very easy to clean.

Ingenious
This knife is great for spreading cold butter.I bought two, in case one is in the dishwasher. They are quite attractive! It is easier to use less butter and spread it more easily without tearing up your bread and toast.I also bought two for a gift. One was in a plastic bag and the other in a cellophane envelope (two items in a single order). It looked a little haphazard. So I had to repackage them before wrapping. The recipient enjoys them also.

This knife works with butter or margerine
I like using this with margerine for toast becasue in spreads the margeraine evenly. It allows you to use sufficient amounts without wasting it in some spots while leaving it out of others.

Too cool
This product is so well made, so clever and versatile that I’m buying one for each family!

No bread tearing!
For anyone who keeps their butter in the fridge, this is a must. Scrape across the top of the butter and tendrils of soft butter make it easy to spread...no bread tearing. I bought one for everyone!

A little miracle!
They are miraculous! Great quality, heavy, shiny stainless. Will last forever unless your friends and family steal them. (Just go ahead and buy one for everybody you know) The little holes turn your cold butter into soft, spreadable noodles. The nice wide blade let’s you get a generous amount of your favorite condiments out of their jars to spread on your sammich (that’s how I say it when I’m happy/silly), and the serrated edge lets you cut said sammich into your desired shape without smashing your bread.

One of those things that's either awesome or stupid ...
I wanted this to work. I really did. Sadly, the negative reviews regarding its effectiveness have proven to be accurate. It pretty much just mashes your butter which comes out looking NOTHING like the picture, with its delicate curls. It's a good deal for two, but two knives that don't work aren't much of an actual improvement. They can still be used as fancy butter knives you have to explain to your friends, but if you expect to never have to take your butter out of the fridge early and have intact bread or toast, you will be sorely disappointed.

Not really worth purchasing
Sorta works, but only when butter is at a medium temp, half cold, half warm. Knife is very stiff and can break fresh bread, not too bad when used on toast though.

Don't work
They don't work. The holes are too small and they clog up and make a mess.
